That was exactly why I had that trailer with brakes ordered in the first place. I only used that orange trailer because there was nothing else available for me to use at the time. I haven't found any place that rents trailers for hauling equipment, and I only know of 3 people that even own trailers - none of them have brakes.

It's always puzzled me why trailers with 7K rating can be sold without brakes. I bought mine used from a trailer dealer and it apparently never had brakes. I made him put brakes on one axle as part of the deal and I later added brakes to the other axle. I was surprised how much better it feels with brakes on both axles.

There are tons of 16' trailers rated for 7000# with no brakes and a 2 inch ball hitch were the ball is rated for 6000# and the trailer is licensed at least in IL for 3000# because if you license for over 3000# it then requires brakes.
