This will sound really dumb. I purchased my 1st tractor last December, I bought a trailer at the same time but since the tractor was delivered by the tractor company I have not used my trailer as of yet. I am currently getting chains etc.. for future move.

When I bought the trailer i asked the tractor people what the width of the tractor was and they said 77" So the trailer is 83.625 between wheel wells, however after I got the tractor i found out that it is actually 84" outside to outside. the Trailer is a 14k tilt bed 22' long. THe fenders have 2 bolts holding them on so unbolting for loading should not be too big a problem.

I will have to load the tractor with the back on first as to get the back tires in front of the fenders. This means the rear axel will be about 4' in front of the trailer center between the to axles. What do you all think about this? I cant seem to come up with any other solution. I had thought about wheel spacers but got a lot of negative feedback on that idea.
Any thoughts? Do I need to trade this trailer in taking a loss I am sure and get a trailer with the wheels under the bed? ugh :-( Regards, Joe

Hard to get a picture of how it will look loaded up, but I strongly suspect you will end up with too much weight on the tongue. Additionally, it sounds like a lot of jumping through hoops to get the machine on the trailer even if you can get the tongue weight correct.
I would bite the bullet and get a deck-over trailer.

Talk to the folks that sold you that trailer. Since they gave you incorrect advise and measurement, they should treat you right when you trade it in on a proper sized one. Go to the top employee, or owner, if you need to.

Sounds like the trailer dealer sold you the trailer that you wanted, based on your info from the tractor dealer. It wasn't the trailer dealer that made the mistake. Hopefully the trailer dealer will treat you right. I went to a deckover trailer to avoid that issue. Hopefully you have something that can pull a bigger trailer.

Without examining the trailer, I would think it would be possible to get an additional 3/16+ on each side with a slight change in something.

Yeah I have hauled my tractor on my neighbors trailer a few times and my tire bulges have to squeeze between the fender wells, which they do no problem. Just got to make sure there are no jagged edges!

Thanks, I have reached out to the guys I bought the trailer from, have not heard back yet.
I reached out to another company and they offered 1/2 of what i paid for it so that wont work.

I wish i knew how much the back of the tractor weighed compared to the front axle weight. I did an AutoCad drawing of the trailer and if I get as close to the back edge of the fender with the rear tire, My rear axle is still about 11' from the ball of the hitch. Not sure what that mean math wise in tongue weight.

I'd get another trailer, but chances are that you can space out the fenders at least 1/2" per side.

Spacers would be a bad idea, I think. They need to be a minimum of 1" thick to accommodate the wheel studs, and even then you'd probably have to cut the original studs down.

Most are 1-1/2 inches for that reason, and now you're really over the 102" max width.

I'll bet he can move the fenders out 1/2 " without moving the wheel, huh?
Or just remove the fenders and haul the tractor....
