Well, heck! I answered you yesterday, Tom ... but I don't see my post .... must be that post monster again.
I had a similar problem back in Alberta on my 80 acres ... the fields were being seriously overgrown with brush. I did some scraping (with a bucket) of the smaller stuff and then tried to come up with a way to clear out the saplings and scrub.
What I had started working on just before they decided to transfer me down here ... was a shear. My plan was a double plate on one side with a single plate that would end up between the two ... with a pivot at the bottom and a hydraulic cylinder moving the single shear piece against the other side.
I had planned to drop the bucket and mount the shear in its place, so that I had up and down, and use the tilt circuit for the shear.
A slightly different idea ... and it should be workable because it would be in front and you could see what you were doing.
