Gear box keeps loosening in spite of lock-washers and or red thread loc. All the heavy duty tines are in place and the flailer appears balanced but there is tremendous vibration.
Anything I am not doing ???

If it's vibrating badly, something is unbalanced or bent & those vibrations are causing things to come loose. Have you checked to see if the rotor it self got bent at some point. Generally that totals the impliment as the are over $1k + shipping to replace.

Yep, something is bent if all parts are in place and properly functioning. It doesn't take much. Mine has 33 knives and if I lose one I immediately know it.

Bent rotor, bent driveshaft, universal joint failing you definitely have a turning part failing

My 917 is current hanging from my loader. Rotor is back in, but just sitting there with no bearings. Waiting for paint to dry & a trip to Home Depot to get some carage bolts (PO put some normal bolts in & I hate trying to get a wrench on em). My rotor has a lot of dings in it, but ran ok until the driven side bearing blew.

Apparently I forgot to grab a photo of the dinged rotor. It was mostly on the bars welded on to mount the knives too.

You forgot to get pics of the entire project?? :)
