You even did a good job showing what you did to get your tractor running, love those picture's you took. So if you would, when you break the tractor in half to change the main seal, let us know how your doing that.

My head gasket is leaking. I had a feeling i was gone to run into that problem. When i got the new one in, I had not gotten my old one back to get the stud out for the thermostat housing. I thought i could put it on later and mounted the head. Turns out you have to mount the thermostat housing first or remove the water pump housing, and complete timing cover housing. So I had to remove the head again. So instead of waiting 3 more days and spending another $75 on my third head gasket. I added an extra ten pounds of torque and reused the new one. I figured it never ran and got heated, and was formed to the new head that i might get lucky. Runs good but a antifreeze leak. Good news is that I have gotten so good at changing the head i can probably have it done in 2 hours. Lol. Still taking a long hard look, and trying to gather more info the main seal job.

On the grand Lxx10 machines (and L48) Kub moved the front drive shaft inside. It's located at the bottom, well below the crank main seal. There have been posts about leaks where it comes into the clutch housing from the trans.

Unless it's leaking a flood, I'd fabricate an outside catch tray below the drain fitting to hold some high-absorbency sheets. My home-heating oil delivery guy uses them - they soak up a LOT of oil. It could run that way til you have full confidence in the engine? Just a thought. At $20/gal an SUDT leak costs too, but maybe with a little time the way forward will be more clear.

To split an L48 the outer frame has to go (see attached pdf).
TBN member messtrap took his off - (pic is a BX holding it). (orig thread here.)

Thank You. Drip tray sounds like a goods idea. it's annoying has **** when she leaks in a customers finished driveway. And it's not a bad leak, but she will leave 8 to 10 inch puddle after shutting down and goes through a gallon about every 75 to 100 hours. and thanks for the attachment.

Permatex makes a nifty head gasket spray. I use it on both sides.

Did we ever find out the conditions that caused the turnover?
