I aqquired an old FMC brand brush hog (light duty 42" I believe) that needs its blades replaced (nothing hardly left of them!). Does anyone know who bought out FMC or who migh have parts. Also any advice on getting the huge bolts loose?

You may check to see if they're "left-handed" threads?

HEAT HEAT HEAT.....
A torch to heat the bolt, then let it cool and it should come loose. Heating the bolt expands it and breaks loose some of the crud holding it, but the bolt will be weaker when it's hot so let it cool before you try and loosen it.

or you can aslo try....
take a hammer and give the bolt head a couple sharp, solid raps. Be sure to hit the head squarely so you don't swell it where the wrench or socket won't fit.

Try some "PBlaster" I have had good luck with this on all my old cars.

Those huge bolts your talking about have a machined shoulder on them which go thru the blade and the (stump jumper) pan and tighten into the flat bar (approx. 3/4" thick by 3" wide ) This bar is threaded and the bolts go all the way through with a lock nut on the end of the bolt.BACK IT OFF FIRST...then get your bolt out!

Hopefully the OP is still an active member, because this thread was started 12 years ago. The last reply was over 11 years ago. Best wishes. The info might just possibly assist and help other members in regards to the inquiry though.
