I vote for new conduit too. I believe he'll have difficutly pulling out the old cable, and imagine it will be impossible to pull out only one conductor, it the cable run truly is 80+ feet long. Generally, the individual conductors end up pretty intertwined over such a length. Without a way to pull in new, I see no way to use the existing conduit. Further, I doubt seriously he can be successful pulling in new regardless. I'm not sure how they even did it the first time. That cable has to be crammed in that little 3/4" conduit as it is. I believe there is no way he will ever get anything any larger in there over the 100 foot distance. I say, new conduit or direct bury just new conductors.

Pull single wires out of pipes all the time, only thing I won't try is old TW wire. Leave one to pull with.

1 1/4" is all thats needed for 100A's using #3 THHN, then again some might use #4/0 URD because its cheaper and the 3" would be required.

Can I use white 90's if I use grey pipe? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

You can use any color that you choose as long as you get it buried before the inspector gets there. I won't say when and I won't say where, but once I had to put a plumbing tee into a electrical conduit to accomplish getting a separate ground wire from the basement to the outside. It worked for my purposes and no one was the wiser once it was all buried and covered with 4" of concrete. The electrical inspector said that it was OK with him as long as he didn't see it or know about it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
