Tractor
Ford 3000
My grandfather purchased a ford 3000 new and gave it to me this year. I'm looking to rebuild the motor due to burning oil and throwing it out the muffler. And also wanting to put a power steering kit on it. Plain on using this tractor to turn a 8' vicon and haul round bales around the farm. My question is the PRODUCTION CODES, SERIAL & MODEL NUMBERS on the
Right Hand Side don't match nothing I'm seeing on the net this tractor is in good shape never sleep outside in the weather the numbers or very readable unless someone didn't stamp them all this is what they or in this order if any one can tell me what they or so I can order what I need and know a little more about this tractor.
Thanks,

Information about the numbers:
FORD TRACTOR

6L4C = A production code meaning 1966, November 4, Afternoon shift.
L166 = I do not know.
B*831166 = Probably a serial number where B = Basildon, England, UK.

Best place to check the numbers are a label on the underside of hood over battery.

should be a model id code there as well.. look under the hood for a tag, and look on the other side of the bellhousing as well.

There's no tag under the hood there is another # on the other side c 7008.

if it's a pre 4-68 machine then you are looking for one that starts with a 3 stamped in mind you.. not raised cast in.

the only place to find the model number of the tractor is on the little metal tag under the hood the numbers stamped on the trans is the build code and the serial number thats it

how u can tell if it is really a 3000 is if it has drie drum brakes the hyd pump does not have the filter on it, is 3 cyl. and has the flow control valve on the side of the rear diff. on the right side

3000 is wrote on the hood. But yes it does have the flow control valve it is a 3 cyl. The hydraulic filter is in the rear end done changed that already.

what is the 3 for

if his date code makes it a 66 model.. which it looks like it does, then his model id will start with a 3.. if it is a 4-68+ model it will start with a C

That's what I was thinking but he said no but also his 94 years old but the engine starts with a c is that united states make if so the trans. Also starts with a c. Couldn't find a # on the rear axle.

i believe you are confusing model and serial number.

sn on the trans bellhousing will begin with an A for antwerp belgium, B for basildon england, or C for a US made one.

the Model ID number for a 3000 series will begin with a 3 if it is before a 4-1968 model, and C if it is a 4-68 or later model.
