Yes, my 851 is now and 8501/2 Just waiting on bracket for fuel tank and valve cover to come back from media blast tomorrow. Will paint and install. I'm going ahead and installing fuel tank and gauge. Then put on side hoods, for the lack of a better term. The tractor runs when battery is hooked up so I'm not too worried about it starting

I've been puzzled by a washer that goes into the steering column. It has a bevel on the outside edge. I'm sure whether this bevel up toward the wheel or down toward the bearing. The books aren't too clear on this point. Also, I think this washer goes on top of the spring so the wheel can depress the spring evenly. What is the right placement of the washer?

Thanks,
Ford851 or 8501/2

The picture of the hoods standing are the latest and the heaviest. Its also the set with the pto leveling cable hole.
The other set is the set that was originally on the tractor that said Powermaster on the horizontal and 851 running down the dog leg. They also have the Ford script written on the sides

Ok the washer. My camera refuses to take a better picture than this. But it is flat on the underside and has the bevel on top facing your. The inside diameter fits over the steering post but will only go down to the ridge on the post. Just below the splines

I would tend to agree if it weren't for the beveled edge. This washer was called out in catalogs because of that feature. You maybe right Just thought I'd ask the question.

Got my old gas tank back from powder coat. Looks great. Will run the original tank. I'll post a pic once I get it all unwrapped and mounted.

Thanks,

i frequently make beveled washers with a ball peen hammer and regular washer and a block of wood on my anvil.. or another larger washer to or socket that i support the edge of the other washer on, and tap the center with the peen.. :)
