Have not heard of any other issues. But honestly, EVERY single rig out there has some issue. It seems like theres a recall every other day.

I have a 2014 3.5 eco boost with about 90k on it. Only problem is the blend door motor on the ac. It clicks several seconds every time I crank it or just open the door.

2016 F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. 77,000 miles on it. Problem free...best truck I've ever owned and I'm old. Owned a few trucks in my time.

Ive got a 2015 with the 3.5 gen 1 Ecoboost. Im only at 90K on it so far but its been flawless. Timing chains were one of the biggest issues with the early ones but it was mainly due to premature wear from extended oil change intervals. Direct injected boosted engines are known for oil dilution and in the EB's that means chain wear or "stretch". I send an oil sample to Blackstone every year and my reports have always been good with my 5,000 miles oil changes and Mobil 1 oil. I absolutely love this engine, pulls like a freight train compared to my old V8 F-150.

I had a 2019 3.5 EB.. Only put about 25K on it before trading it in .. But had zero problems. Have a 2023 Raptor now with the 3.5EB and its been fine .. Only has 10K on it. .. What I have learned about the earlier EB motors is that they need cam phasers at about 80K. You need to keep the oil clean otherwise they tend to have turbo issues at about the same milage. Timing chains are about 125K.. They are a solid motor but do require maintenance.

The Gen 1 3.5's didn't have phaser issues that the Gen 2's did, chains wearing is the main issue with the timing set on the gen 1. Clean oil is a must in any new engine and sadly its the most overlooked since most MFG's are pushing 10K intervals now which is a problem.

We got a 2.3 L 4-cylinder with EcoB and trouble free in the first 65K. Little engine has pep!

I think so but my local garage says if not throwing any codes (stutters) and running so smoothly with gas milage in the 20 1/2 range why spend the money is what he keeps telling me?

he is a local old timer who runs a rural 3 door / 2 lift type of shop. A real dying breed and when he finally retires the shop closes forever is my guess.... nothing fancy but a real down to earth type of local community guy. I tend to trust and follow those who know more than I but like you think I should change the plugs.

I'd sorta expect any modem vehicle, regardless of quality, to have no real issues while under 100k miles.

And quality ones to go to 200k quite easily. I always intend to drive a car to 200k. Not impressed with "no issues" while under 100k honestly. That should be the bare minimum for the price tag

Only have 58 000 km (36000 miles) on my 2018 3.5 liter and so far, so good. Happy to see the mileage people are getting out of these newer models and relatively trouble-free. Powertrain warranty is over so now I am doing my own oil changes twice a year for piece of mind. The vehicle is more of a driveway ornament than driven, but I do love it.
