Also forgot to note, my sons is not the hybrid version. He does get around 30mpg. He drives about 25 miles one way to work.

My neighbor has a Maverick. He likes it. But he is not hauling with it. He definitely uses as a light duty truck, like it was intended. But it seems pretty capable for that purpose. Pretty nice looking truck., better looking than the Santa Cruz in my opinion.

It was perfect for my type of driving. Gas mileage being one of the biggest factors. I get 40mpg average and 50 in the summer.
My wife would swear under oath, that I must also shop vehicles by MPG, but in the reverse direction. :ROFLMAO: That fuel is just liquid horsepower! :p

Myself, I'll never pay 40 grand for anything, ever but that is just me and I only buy off lease and pay cash.

Nothing new on the car or truck maket today that is worth even close to 40 grand in my view bit the ine stickler for me is the complexity of all of them which is all good and well until they need repairs or a components needs replaced (other than brakes or tires or bulbs). With the current labor rates and the cost of replacement parts, post warranty, I find that scary as well as the ever decreasing fuel milage. The new stuff is way past the average driveway mechanic's ability to repair. Too complex for my taste and way too expensive as well.

Like I said, all well and good until they require fixing.

Finally, GM is having issues with their engines, especially the larger V8's I see the 'cure' is a full replacement engine. That is scary in itself.

They all might 'look nice' on the outside but what is lurking under the sheet metal and what the long term cost will be is what concerns me. That and the insane pricing.

I'll keep on driving my 14 Focus and my 97 F350 1 ton pickup truck (it's a real truck, not a poser truck).

My wife likes her 3 year old Suburban LTZ 4x4 and it was an off lease low mileage turn in so she basically paid half sticker and got an extended warranty (GM) to boot, something I insisted on in asmuch as it's a very complex vehicle and she bought it with the smaller GM V8 which is the good engine, The larger (High Country V8 is the bad engine) One thing I did immediately was I deleted the selective cylinder delete that GM did to appease the CAFE people. Terrible design that causes premature engine failure, causes the engine to consume oil as well. She has the vehicle maintained at the dealer and when they found out I had deleted the cylinder cut out, they said nothing, just smiled. That and she has the oil changed and filter every 5K miles, not 10K. That 10K oil change that all mainufacturers have went to only decreases engine life and oil and filter changes are a cheap date anyay.

I do the same with my tractors and even the lawnmowers. When the oil starts to color up, it gets changed as well as the filters. Same with coolant. 3 years max on coolants and they get changed and the cooling systems flushed and a new radiator cap as well. Rad caps are probe to loosing their spring tension so they get replaced as well.

Most likely, I'll never buy a new vehicle but if I do, will be an off lease, low mileage buggy. Not about to shell out what they ask for a new one today.

I don't finance anything either. There is 'no romance' to the finance in my view.

Mileage in my Colorado is 25-17, depending on my right foot. Average is about 20.
According to the computer, I once got 30mpg. For 25 miles, on a very flat stretch of road along a river.
I've found the computer to be +- .3 mph.

Yours or the finance company's? Hopefully, it's 100% yours. Remember until it's 100% paid for, it's really not yours, it belongs to them and you are just a 'rent to own' customer.

If you for some reason fail to make your obligation in a timely manner, then the repo guy vusits you and removes their asset. Of course if it sells for less than you owe, you are still on the hook for the balance, interest and late fees as well.

One of my favorite YT video's is 'Life wt Eb'. He's a repo guy in Cleveland and his video's are quite entertaining.

Of all the not worthwhile junk on YT, his video's are totally worth watching as it gives you a perspective of the other side of the car business.

After all these years I'm still trying to figure out what you get out of making these posts.
