I too have one of the China clones. So far good but it only has 8 hours on it. I bought here in the Philippines at a local big box store. Question is I have a slight fuel leak at the fuel shutoff I think it's coming from the small plastic nut on the bottom. In order to get at it properly I'm going to have to take the enclosure off. The question is can I leave it off for easy servicing later ?

A picture would help.

I have two yanmar L90 engines with 4800 generators on them that were removed from a fire truck. The one engine got water in it and ruined the cylinder wall. Does anyone know if I can have this bored out to fit a L100 piston? L90 seems to be a rare one and impossible to find a piston with rings. Thanks Ben

I got my parts from Jameson tractor for L70痴 L90痴 and L100痴.
Parts are available.

I would have to mount the control board but I was wondering about cooling.

You can no harm to engine or generator but the fuel tank & controls are mounted in the enclosure.
When I was test running mine after the rebuild I ran it temporarily without enclosure But the fuel tank & controls were exposed.

What about warranty?

What about warranty?

It's a joke they tell me it's a maintenance issue not a problem with the generator.. I'm on generator now because of power outage at least i'm burning off some fuel to make it easier to fix..

Howdy fellas

I finally made it up to my parents place and spent a few hours looking over the generator.
I pulled the oil filter (I didn't know there was one there) there were a few flakes and shavings on it, but it was not clogged or anything like that.
I pulled the injector, it has some carbon build up on it, see the picture below, I guess it is a good indicator of what the rest of the cylinder looks like, and maybe even the problem, but I'm no expert and I'm not even sure how it's supposed to work.

I took off the valve cover also, I didn't check the valve clearance yet, but things look pretty good, no obvious signs of anything going wrong.

As I was taking things apart, I took note of some really crappy electrical connections, the oil pressure sending unit and the connection made to the fuel pump.
I'm not sure what it is for, but all these connections are starting corrode, even though I keep this guy under a roof, so it must be just moisture seeping in.
I'm wondering if perhaps vibrations could affect one of these safeties which would cause behavior like this. Once I'm finished looking everything over, I will put it all back together and
try each of the kill switches and see exactly what happens when I wiggle it, disconnect, reconnect, maybe they just need a cleaning.

Any advice on what I should be looking for would be appreciated.
I'm hoping to get up there next weekend and continue looking for issues.

Well I have to give it to them,, I talked through FB instant messenger to someone at the home office and the next day someone was out to look at it.. Today a real generator tech came out and fixed it.. I got his number for future problems..

Now if only I could find an hour meter for it..

Hi All -

I've got one of the "quiet" generators. Brand name is Atima, but it looks about like every one of the other enclosed single cylinder diesel Chinese-clone generators with the fancy enclosure. Was cranking it over, heard a "bang" and lost all compression, so I'm in the process of tearing it down.

Dumb question - how do you separate the generator from the engine? I got the big main bolt that runs through the rotor out, loosened the 4 long external bolts that seem to hold the stator to the front cover that bolts to the engine. But nothing seems to be coming loose? It's 7 degrees out in the barn right now, so I'm trying to be careful not to break anything, lol. Am I missing something other than a bigger hammer? Any parts diagrams anyone has would be helpful and much appreciated!

TIA...

I'm wondering if the Chinese clone breaks due to a crappy part, can you substitute the Yanmar OEM part for durability?

I still have a real Yanmar L100 mated to a 28 volt gen set for a 24 volt battery backup system if anyone is interested?
