Forum Update - Test it out

yup, it goes from readable size to tiny to readable but half wide and finally to readable size...if that's what you mean.

First unread....is there a profile setting for that, instead of in the threads?

/ Forum Update - Test it out #103
Well, it is much faster and I do see a difference in style. I like the speed and the format is OK wither way.

I just remembered previous threads about needing to show who the Original Poster is, especially on long threads.

Can that be put in the new version? Maybe at the top of the page?

I am enjoying the new format. However, it does not appear to remember the last entry read on a thread. It takes me to the first posting. Am I the only one who has this happen and if so, is there something I need to set up to change this?

You'll need to click the little blue triangle next to the thread title, rather than the title itself.

I was thinking the same thing but it may be something associated with using the new format for the first time. I was having same issue, now it appears to be working.

I'm finding on threads I have NOT posted to, but have looked at, when I open them up, I go to the first post. I click on view first unread...it takes me to the end of thread or the last thread...not my first unread.

Really don't like how this is function now.

The same thing is happening to me - I would think it's just a temporary "work in progress" glitch.

I have gone back to the old style until we get some notification that the new style is stable and/or production-ready.

I still wish the thread title automatically took us to first unread. And the stupid little blue dot were the option to go to post 1.

Dont know about anyone else, but when viewing a main page (like my subscriptions or "new posts"), I cannot zoom on a smartphone. And hitting that little blue dot is a PITA.

I don't see a blue dot. Where is it at?

when will we be getting consistency through out the forum?

I find it's still jumping around from the old to the new format, unless that's just me.

The first post in this thread has a link to go back to the old format.

Or Click Here

I've been on the new format for awhile now....and liking it, except for this first unread post problem.

How long will the old format be around?

Agree on always the first post- especially with slow internet.

And agree with others, not listing which forum is especially bad with slow internet and vague thread titles.
Like "Please help me with this" and you wait for it to open, and they want to know if a Chinese tractor has left or right wheel threads. ( I made this up)

Yep, and please put the forum next to the thread title, not on the opposite side of the screen like it is now.

I'm familiar with that link and it does work...for some forums.

Here's one that still show old style on my computer, along with many others:

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/buying-pricing-comparisons/

That is because not all Forums are available in the new style.

From the first post in this thread:

Hi Everybody,

We've been working on an updated forum design and have a test forum for you to try out.

Click here to try it: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/forum.php?styleid=181

If you want to go back to the current design, click here: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/forum.php?styleid=136

While the functionality of the forum remains the same, the main advantages of the new design are:

- Up to 40% reduction in page load times
- Full mobile and tablet compatibility with responsive design

Let me know if the new design is displaying for you, and how you like it.

Keep in mind that this new test URL will only work in some forums (including the main forum page and search results, as well as some of the individual forums). So if the design is switching back and forth from old to new, that's because it's in testing.)

Thanks!
