It was fun to read all the ideas and conversation. And even though I was skeptical about JB Weld, I'd like to get more info about it - I know it sets up solidly, and can be drilled and tapped, but was surprised to see it reccommended for this kind of stress. I haven't checked out the web site, but I'm interested in its adhesion qualities, especially in contaminated environments.
If it is applicable to this sort of problem, even as a temporary "get you home" solution, I'm gonna go get a Family Sized bucket of the stuff, instead of the little token tube I have hanging on the wall.
