Four in One bucket recommendations

The regenerative circuit enables the loader bucket to dump quickly (and prevents pump cavitation) by routing the return fluid directly into the pressure side of the curl cylinders rather than back to the sump.

My dealer is recommneding a "Construction Attachments" 4 in 1 bucket for the L48 package I'm putting together, for $2395, minus $600 for credit for the standard Kubota bucket. Is the Construction Attachments 4 in 1 a solid piece of equipment? Does the price sound right? Thanks...Tony

My 4in1 bucket (John Deere) was $1325 plus $300 for the steel lines and hoses that go on the loader less $500.00 credit for the standard bucket. The Fasse valve and joystick control, which allow the curl circuit to be used for the 4in1 and controlled from a switch on the joystick handgrip, was an additional $600.00. Had I chosen to run the 4in1 from the third SCV on the right fender, I would have saved the $600.00. I felt then and still feel that using the third SCV rather than the Fasse valve would be awkward at best.

How will your controls be set up?

I have an ATI 4in1 that is good but not great design. I do not know anything of the brand you mention.

My control valve is mounted right under the loader joy stick. It is not a push button but it has worked very well. I have no issue with it. It is all flex lines on mine. Not issue so far.

Any chance you could post a picture of that? I wanted something line a switch/button on my bucket control lever not unlike the high/low range switch on a semi tractor transmission shifter. THAT would seem ideal for the application; being able to operate the loader lift, bucket tilt AND clamshell simultaneously with a single hand. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I visited the Construction Attachments web site. The 60" bucket weighs 510 pounds. If this isn't a good bucket, its not for lack of steel. The only thing that doesn't appeal to me is the low back. It looks to me like it would be really easy to spill material on the hood if you curled back too far.

One of the options listed is Optional spill guard available on some models. You might want to look into that option. I really wish that they would put more pictures on the web site or in the pdf. Perhaps your dealer can provide an illustrated brochure. If not, there is a tech support line listed on the web site. I'm sure that the folks at Construction Attachments would be happy to answer any questions that you have.

Among the other options listed I see Optional electric/hydraulic solenoid valve to actuate clam circuit available for ag tractors. This is likely the equivalant of the Fasse valve.

Here is a link to a thread that you really should read before you opt for using the curl circuit of the dual selective control valve to control the 4in1. FEL grapple 'close' is weak...help please

I would want to have the control as close to the joystick as is practical if I could not actually use the joystick to control the 4in1. On my tractor, the third SCV is controlled by a lever on the right fender. It's too far from the joystick to be a practical solution for me.

Has your dealer sold many of these units on the Kubota model that you intend to purchase? Could you visit one of the owners and look it over?

I will post a picture of my control lever on the L48 later tonight after I take one. It is very close to the loader control-very close. It does have it's own circuit and does not use the loader circuit. I am not sure I would like that set up? Also an electrical component to watch after.

I do not know the exact weight of the bucket I have. I remember it being about 150lbs more than the HD bucket? The only issue I have had witht this ATI 4in1 is that I tweeked it once then tweeked it back using a large-----lever.

There's some discussion on this thread about using a diverter valve to switch between curl and closing the jaw. Personally, I sometimes use both of those functions simultaneously and would avoid that option:

Usually when you pick up a pile of brush, gravel, dirt, etc. with a 4 in 1, you fully open the jaw and rotate the 4 in 1 forward so that the moving jaw and fixed jaw both touch the ground at the same time. When you then drop the 4 in 1 on a pile and close the jaw, because of the bucket's geometry, the moving jaw wants to dig in to the pile while the fixed jaw trys to stay where it was. If you continue closing the moving jaw, the fixed jaw is pushed up and some of the pile is pushed under the fixed jaw rather than being pinched betweeen the jaws. That's ok most of the time but sometimes you want to get every last piece with the bucket or else you have to do it with a shovel. In that case, if you slowly curl the bucket while closing the movable jaw, both sides close at the same level and you get every last piece of the pile. Seems like that would be awkward with a diverter valve switching between close and curl.

There is no way I'd go with the diverter like that for the very reason you mention. I much prefer the idea of being able to use both loader functions in concert with the clamshell function. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
