and what those people who follow the Bible completely forget about is the fact that WE are no different than our own domesticated animals.

Has nothing to do with who follows the bible.. You're beloved breed of dog lays down more hurt than any other breed period, does it have anything to do with the losers that own some of them, of course it does..

You remind me of some of the people who are actually susprised I own a gun.

I have no beloved breed of dog.

Actually, unlike your high dollar dog, I've found the best kind of dog is the one you find by accident (I've never bought a dog in my life LOL). Also, currently we have no "bully breed" of dog living in our home.

Our last bully breed died of an apparent heart attack while we were on vacation up in Vermont (the one in my Avatar). Best we could tell was she was an American Staffsordhire Terrier. Plan wasn't to keep her (found under a trailer with pups), the deal was the people at the trailer find a home of the pups and we'd find a home for the mom. She was one of the longest girls we had in care becuase too many people only wanted her because they thought she'd be good for protection. After about two years with her, we finally decided to keep her. We had her probably had her for 8 years in our home. The best, well behaved, trainable and loyal dog I've ever had. Never a problem. Actually had more problems with a couple of German Shepherds and a Siberian Husky than anything else.

No fence, let's the dog and pups roam free, no proof of vaccinations and the dogs are taken away from him and he's fined $500. BIG DEAL! Here is a novel idea, the guy should never be allowed to own a dog again in his life AND the guy bitten should of sued his pants off.

As I mentioned before, I don't have my head in the sand, I completely understand that there are a lot of reported "bully breed" attacks, but I also believe the breed is more available to every smuck who wants a dog for protection or for whatever reason why someone would speciffically look for a dog that could do damage to you (not unlike other larger breeds).

If I may ask, what did your German Shepherd run you?

Found out an old aquaintence up in Vermont is now running a GSH rescue group. He's up to 35 dogs now. Same guy also made money on them with imports and who the trainer is. Amazing the money in 4 legged dogs for protection.

Sincere question - If pit bulls (bully breed a term that generally covers more terriers that people think of as "pit bulls") have been around in the US culture since the early 1900's, why do "pits" lead the way now in dog bites when in the past (I can remember the 1980's and early 90's) being that Doberman's and GSH's were the dog to make the news and kill babies. Where were all the "pit's" in the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's? (per making the news). Why since at least at the beginning of this century do pit's make all the news now?

The History of Pit Bulls – Love-A-Bull

I'm only a guy who didn't think highly of "pit bulls" in the past. After I owned one and cared for a couple more, they are a breed that deserves more studying, training and time than a normal/average mutt, but no different IMO than any other dog that could be considered dangerous due to their strength and or size.

Again, I'm not a lover of any breed, nor am I hater of any dog breed.

Because one dog became a part of my family, I don't believe everything I read about it in the news about the a breed I have come to personally know. Kind of like some of the guns I own.

Well if anyone is interested I talked with the young lady that was bit today. She was at a birthday party for one of my granddaughters. At Chuckee Cheeses of all places. She is getting around well with a walker. Will take the walker and bump your leg three or four times to get you to move if you are in her way. Each bump gets a little harder than the last LOL. We were picking on her about her pimped out walker and may get her a horn for it. Played a game of skeeball or whatever with her and got beat. Very pretty and cheerful young lady.

Her knee is still immobilized and the wrapping goes from her ankle all the way up. The mother is worried about the therapy that starts in about a week. The medical people have told her that it will be very painful. The surgeon and staff are calling constantly to check on her.

She will eventually heal but the doctors have told the mother it will be a year or more if she ever fully recovers.
