It is true that Phillip is a very unhappy member and even more difficult to please.

I was under the impression that he and his MF have parted ways? Does someone have different information?. JUST DO NOT get him started on the attributes of Koyker loaders!!!!

Phillip posted yesterday on this thread.

:thumbsup:why is that so hard for people to understand<smile>.....the wheels are spinning cause all the weight is on the front axle then you slap it into gear with the engine reved somethings gonna give.

Exactly....and get this....if you don't learn the first time and do it again and again and it breaks again and again then what do you call the operator?

You need to keep this entire thread in perspective: Our colleague PhillipW has been badmouthing Massey/AGCO from the day he bought this thing. The majority of his posts are aimed at bad review of MF/AGCO. Yes, there is something wrong when the front axle fails 3 times or more. I would not be the first to suggest that breaking this tractor umpteen times might include the operator as a factor. It would save all of us quite a bit of time and verbal energy if he'd just sell it & have it over with. Sarcasm would leak out after a year or two of this -- maybe we can take up a collection and help him to sell it ?

Chuckle....I like your idea. the little massy's in my opimion are built stronger than the competion including green and orange!

Did you know there are operators that only engage 4wd when they are stuck??? Jeeezzzz,,, talk about demolition experts!!!! :D

After looking at a MF 1531 video, I'll bet this guy has the front wheels in a maxed out widest position. With a full load, I could guess that the bending moment on the front spindles would be enormous, probably enough to crack the parent metal. Turning sharp at full steer angle just adds more pain to the equation. Additionally, force amplification from the increased front track also puts a large F/A force on the front axle.

This is a load condition that may have been unforeseen by the maker. Coupled with an operator in a hurry, low tire pressures, fast steering, bucket full and tight turns, you get a recipe only a green or orange tractor can work with.

Bfloyd4445: you know good and well I will defend what is defendable and I did. I tried to give you the good and the bad. Some of these mf guys get a little "butt hurt" over their darling mf. Here is my opinion and it is settled as far as concerned. In the 1970"s Ford was building a pretty decent competitive pickup. In 1980-1983 Ford was selling a piece of junk. A lot of pickup suffered frame and suspension issues because they weren't rugged enough for the farm. Ford eventually got it together and got straightened out. But the quality of a 1976 Ford verses a 1980 Ford is no comparison. These new Massey's aren't half the tractor as the older Massey's. I'll give you comfort and ergonomic advantage, but rugged gutsy tractors they are not. I stated driving tractors about 8-9 years old. The brother and I were feeding small square bales to cattle. When putting up hay, my dad had the idea of pulling the wagon behind the baler. My brother and I were just too young to keep up and not loose a load of hay. So, my dad put me on the tractor and baler and him and my brother stacked on the wagon.(l got a lot of butt chewing trying to learn to run the tractor and baler.) I think was 10 the first time he put me on the tractor and baler. I'm retired now. So do your math. I believe of operated a tractor or two and have a little experience of doing so.

Your post brings back memories for me of trying to keep up with the flatbed while tossing little rectangular bales and doing everything fast enough to not miss any bales. Boy those bales got heavy very fast<smile>. We took turns tossing or stacking. Hard work and I wasn't very good at it. Long time ago. I haven't thought of those times in years but the memories are still there in vivid detail. Never ran a tractor until i was in my twenties.
I was comparing current models of small tractors not yesterdays tractors to the new MF and the new ones appear to me to be well built. I'm not crazy about tiny engines but that's the name of the game in our modern world. But we all tend to use tools for what they are not intended from time to time which can lead to catastrophic failure.
