But if you are in 2wd and your wheels are spinning and you pull the lever to engage 4wd while the rear wheels are till spinning. . . It will then.

It's like the 3rd post in the thread, he came to a complete stop before shifting to 4wd.

I'd agree if I hadn't seen every manual talk about backdragging the loader in an extended position(even in our '81 Ford manual!). Both the Ford and Kubota manual talk about ballast but neither mention anything about blowing out a front end and honestly I think we'd see a few more threads on it if that were the case.

Built plenty of consumer stuff over the years and you *always* design for worst case because if you sell ~100k units even that 1/1000 means you've got 100 pissed off people kicking up threads like these which can have a huge impact on how people perceive what you're building.

Yes I agree. So you have one of them new Fords, an 81....chuckle, my favorite tractor is my 75 Ford 2000 D. That little guy is a beast for its size.

Hah, yeah it's a good machine but finding parts for the 1X00 series is getting pretty tough so it's going to be passed on here soon and we're moving up to a L4760. When the tach went out had to swap in one from a 1510 as there wasn't a single one available in scrap yards or new for the 1500.

Did you try, is it, yesterdays tractor, forum? Antique Tractors - Yesterday's Tractors : Parts and Online Community I've found things here when desperate. I've had to manufacturer parts myself on occasion. A good friend passed on a couple of years ago that could make anything. If he couldn't machine the old part he would cast or machine a new one. Not many like him.

Vvanders, the opening post was:

" I was picking up rocks with my little massey. Had a pretty good load in the bucket. Was spinning and slid it in 4 wheel drive. POP SNAP POP. Oil running everywhere on left front hub. What a piece of crap. Just rebuilt it about a year ago. This is the 4th time front end has shelled. "

Yup, and post #12 pretty much summed it up!

Yep, I agree. Everyone that uses a loader has felt the bounciness of the rear a time or two but i think most take that as a warning and adjust the load or proceed with extreme caution.
Don't you think so? Most learn from the experience

You need to keep this entire thread in perspective: Our colleague PhillipW has been badmouthing Massey/AGCO from the day he bought this thing. The majority of his posts are aimed at bad review of MF/AGCO. Yes, there is something wrong when the front axle fails 3 times or more. I would not be the first to suggest that breaking this tractor umpteen times might include the operator as a factor. It would save all of us quite a bit of time and verbal energy if he'd just sell it & have it over with. Sarcasm would leak out after a year or two of this -- maybe we can take up a collection and help him to sell it ?

But owners manual clearly states to stop tractor before engaging 4WD.... OPERATOR ERROR!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe we could buy him a Deere....Then he could bad mouth different manufacturer... At least he would be out of MF forum (hopefully)...

It is true that Phillip is a very unhappy member and even more difficult to please.

I was under the impression that he and his MF have parted ways? Does someone have different information?. JUST DO NOT get him started on the attributes of Koyker loaders!!!!
