Front end loader vs another tractor

After finding out the loader for my 5103 costs roughly 4500, I started comtemplating finding a smaller tractor w/ a loader for the same price. Granted, it won't have the lift capacity of the 5103, but I don't lift real heavy stuff any way. The tractor also has more than one use vs a loader. I was looking at some off brand name tractors from 20-30 hp. I know of Yanmar, are there other tractor brands out there that sell these reconditioned tractors fairly cheap? Do you think I would be better off in the long run just putting the loader on mine and forget about the other tractor? Just looking for some input...hard decision!

If you have use for a larger machine, look into a used Ag tractor/loader. Lots of power and weight per dollar compared to the compact market. My little 16 hp Kubota with loader that lifts only 500 lb is worth about $4500 on trade, a bit more if I sell it outright.

I would go ahead and just get the loader for your 5103. I think in the long run, another tractor would cost you more money anyway.

IMHO go for the loader for your 5103. Don't know how used tractor sales are in your area but where I live finding used small tractors with a loader in the 4500 range are far and few between. I looked for almost 2 years for a used tractor w/ loader and found used ones here were selling only a few grand less than new so I bought new. If you can find a good smaller tractor w/ loader in your range then go for it.

Get the loader for your 5103; if you spend the $$ on a smaller tractor you'll kick yourself every time you want to move something that's too heavy. Until you get the FEL and have it available to you 24/7 you just don't realize how much you'll use it.

Consider how hard or easy it is to take the loader off and how much you need to use the tractor without the loader too. The things make the tractor a lot more cumbersome to use when they're just hanging out in front being nothing more than weight.

I would buy another tractor. A TLB to be exact.
But my loader needs would require a smaller tractor.
It really depends on exactly what else you need the tractor/loader for.
