Fuel Prices!

I buy off-road diesel at the pump and it requires no special paperwork. I just put it it approved containers.

I was shocked /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif when I went to get some diesel for the tractor, have not needed any since october and decided to go fill my two empty 5gallon jugs at a cost of $191.9 Are these prices justified? Feel bad for independant truck drivers that have no choice but to pay these high prices. I'm sure tranportation costs will be driven down to consumers.

Like I said Steven, I just bought some a couple days before Christmas for $1.19 /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif that was off road diesel.

But that was only 6 weeks ago. Prices have gone through the roof. I don't think supply is down at all. The war hasn't even started yet. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif somebody is making a killing /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Cowboydoc, they've done that before, and it didn't do much good. Even government agencies have stood up and said there's price gouging going on and it hasn't done much good. About the only time I've seen the government do anything is if the gas station is caught price gouging. When we started bombing in Afghanistan, most of the stations here in Michigan jumped gas prices. There were lines at the gas pumps that evening because everyone was afraid prices would jump and they wouldn't be able to get gas. Most of the stations jumped prices about 20 cents a gallon. A very few, however, almost doubled prices because they had heard war rumors. I was quite pleased to see our then State Attorney General ferret out these weasels. There were some heavy fines and some refunds passed out. If the same thing ever happens again, get a receipt when you buy that high priced gas. Those people who had receipts got refunds. (It helps to have a paper trail).

Oil is sold on a spot market. Kuwait has no control over the price as it is set by the consortium they are a member of(OPEC). Unless a special deal was made between the 2 countries(which OPEC would object to), the oil is placed on the market.

Just went by the Cenex Coop... Off Road diesel, winterized was $1.26 per gallon /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif... I am still running on the 0.82 cent stuff I bought in November /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif... It should get me through the rest of the winter as I have a full tank...., depending on how much snow we get of course...

Hopefully, things will ease off in the Spring...but the oil companies see no let up in demand, even at these prices..so I imagine they will just let them come back down a bit and sit at a new price plateau....

One good thing, this may stimulate some more drilling activity to bring on fresh crude supplies....
