Fuel prices!

I stopped and got off road diesel yesterday and it was $3.82 by me. On road was $4.02. Depending on where I get 87 regular, I usually fill up at BJs, it's around $3.36.

I finally parked my Powerstroke and bought a commuter when diesel sat at $4.29 a gallon. Right now it's running $3.99 to $4.09. The truck only comes out now when I need it for chores.

I know the feeling. 36 gallon tank in my truck. I was near the 1/4 mark yesterday. The pump shut off at it's $100 limit and I wasn't quite full yet.

I have a 44 1/2 gal tank in my suburban
once down at the lake when you could only get $75 at a time I had to swipe my card 4 times to fill it and the boat :hissyfit:

i agree i enjoy these threads seeing regional differences in prices, and if the thread lives long enough watching the prices change over the years

I could buy gas at sams club, I just have to drive out of the way to get it. Gas @ sams is usually 3-4 cents cheaper than the lowest priced stations. I could also drive out of the way and get diesel at walmart (murphy oil co. gas station) diesel at walmart is about 3-4 cents cheaper than the lowest priced stations. Sams (here) doesn't sell diesel..

I can't explain prices around me the 2 closes stations change their prices hourly some days. currently $3.75 credit $3.65 cash I don't pay attention to the diesel price because I always buy it from the feed store. The few times i noticed the difference the feed store was .25 - .30 cheaper than the gas stations.

Sams club is usually the cheapest but that's 15 miles away. There is one station that is 20 miles away form me and is always ~.50 cheaper please explain that.

Like you I will not drive out of my way to buy gas or diesel.

Let's say your average 1/2 ton truck gets 15 mpg and gas is $3.50 per gallon. That means it cost $.233 per mile for fuel. Now figure 5,000 mile oil changes at $35, thats $.007 per mile. Now brakes every 50,000 miles at $200 average. That's $.004 per mile. Tires every 40,000 miles at $800 works out to $.02 per mile. It works out to about $.30 per mile to drive. 5 miles each way cost $3.00. So even if the gas is $.10 cheaper and you bought 30 gallons it would just be a wash. Not really due to the miles accumulated and other wear items on the truck. My diesel cost 1/3 more.

I track all 3 of my vehicles. My 1/2 ton cost $.30 per mile last year to drive. My 1 ton diesel was $.43 per mile.
