Fuel Pump Replacement

Do the bolts from your puller fit into the gear correctly and out of the 2.5" hole? If they do, this is the time many mechanics and technicals sacrifice the tool and modify it for the specific job-it pretty much becomes a "specialty" tool. My advice is wait for a smaller tool or modify one to fit. My advice would be to NOT cut the engine plates/access hole- at the very least your slag may get into the gear surfaces and may damage everything. These pullers are straight and smaller and should be able to get in that circle and around the external bolts. Will this type work? Otherwise you may have to get a Branson/Kukje specific tool.

Also, it appears those threaded studs that secure the cover plate are in the way. I think- if you push your IP back into the engine you can rotate the engine enough to bring those hole to a horizontal position and use those smaller/linear pullers.

*** I also would suggest investigating that white gear timing mark that appears to be factory and use it. If you do turn the engine and not use the factory timing mark or your yellow mark, you will need to make a new painted mark to ensure timing. Good luck, we're all hoping the best. Please keep us posted.
