That Shaker settlement would be just south of Lebanon NH. Can't remember the name of the town, but can look it up if it's important to you.

Peeper season can be a bit trying - though it seems that some of them are crazy enough to buy your leaves! (Hmmm - just set up a "rake your own stand"). Strange but true. Fortunately we don't get as many New Yakkers as Pete does over in VT.

Here's a few sayings to add to the collection:

"Better then a poke in the eye with a sharp stick."

"I resemble that remark."

"Don't look at me in that tone of voice."

"PEBCACK" [Problem Exisits Between Chair And Keyboard]

"PEBSAS" [Problem Exists Between Seat And Steering] (tractor equivalent)

and for the cerebrally challenged:

"Missing a few bits"

"Not firing on all cylinders"

"Shallow end of the gene pool"

Latest thing I've come across expresses general discontent with whomever ended up in the Whitehouse; "Resident" instead of President (seeing as neither one seemed of Presidental quality).

One I had not heard until I lived in Texas was:
"even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while" in other words... you just got lucky /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

How about
"His oil ain't touching his dipstick."
"Not the sharpest tool in the shed."
"Ain't got the brains God gave a goose."
"Ain't got the brains to tan his own hide."

She's so cheap a couple of nickles in her pocket would become a dime out of sheer boredom.

"Back to the grind" takes on a special meaning when you work for Green Mountain Coffee!

"Fight creeping fattitude" means going on a diet.

And from my navy days "Gotta pump the bilges" means you gotta take a leak.

"Touroid" is a generic tourist of unknown origin
