I have a high performance one cylinder water cooled two-stroke racing go-kart that puts out 40+HP @ 17,000rpm and does 115 MPH.

My question is, should I remove the three cylinder diesel engine from my Kubota L-39 and install the go-kart engine to pick up a few more horsepower and more top end speed? :eek:

YES!

The only problem I see is trying to hook up the finish mower to the go cart. It should be able to mow the lawn in under 7 seconds though!

But seriously folks..... What brand engine does that critter use? The last Honda dirt bikes I raced were well over 45 hp with a single cylinder 250cc water cooled 2-stroke. (And that was 15 years ago) If a 3 banger is so much cheaper to build compared to a 4 cylinder, they probably GIVE AWAY those cart motors, heh?

Shoot Fire, why even ask? Git'er done!

Since the conversion will be so successful, no need to keep that nasty old 3 cyl around gathering dust. Just box it up and send it my way for proper "recycling". {no charge}

Absolutely! Just add a few more gears and/or larger diameter tires to convert all that twist into go. You might hit 120 at 3000 rpm!

Oh, wait, I thought you wanted to put the L39 engine in the kart. To go the other way, you need to add a couple more tranny's in series to gear it down low enough, kind of like the Sherman's they used to put in 8N Fords.

Yeah, but the two stroke needs a top end rebuild every 50 hours of operation! :(

I'll bet that cart motor at 17,000 rpms won't get 50 hours on a top end!

I'd take that bet for a donut!
