Re: Update #2

Hey all,

Good news, drove by the stations on I-94 this morning and prices went down to....$1.969, can't believe it's back under $2/gal. Now when I fill up the truck, I can get 20 gallons for just under $40! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Re: Update #2

My Suburban has a 42 gallon tank. At current prices, I might get a Happy Meal with the change from the 4 $20 bills I hand the checkout person every time I fill up. Overall though, I have to say that in the big picture of world economy, food, energy, and other staples are cheap here in the US, so no complaints from me.

Re: Update #2

PaulB,

How about we send these Michigan gas prices to you for awhile, then maybe you might get upset when other parts of the country are paying 12.5%+ less than you!

Regarding the "World" situation, yada yada yada, I live here and I know I have it better and I want to keep it that way! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: Update #3!

Since this a.m. prices have fallen from $1.969 to $1.949 for a few hours to $1.929 for a few hours, then my wife just told me it dropped again to $1.909!

This all happened in about 8 hours at three stations situated near each other and I-94. My wife reminded me that the State Attorney General is looking into price gouging that's not only happening here, but in other parts of the midwest as well. I figure that if they drop their prices to about $1/gal for a month that all of the profit they made from gouging us would get used up! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Re: Update #3!

Has any one heard any more about the GOV. looking into price's.All I keep hearing is that they are looking...As far as I can see it's right there on the sign....[luagh]I wonder is the GOv is just watching to see if higher fuel prices will slow down this "fast pace econimy" we are supposed to be living in..Not try'n stort nuthin..It's just that I've been tryin to sell so I can build and I've been watching the rates(intrest that is).I've noticed that every time they try bumping the rates things slow for a bit then the banks start bringing the rates back down a bit.....to get people interested again.....In reality its probably just greedy oil tycoons as usuall/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif...

Re: Update #3!

Wen,

The stations that I've been talking about are as of yesterday down to $1.879, but in a smaller town about 5 miles away I saw prices of $1.999 last night!

Re: Update #3!

Well...Lemme see here. The oil producer makes about 13 to 15 cents per gallon.
The Government TAKES between 45 and 50+ cents a gallon....which brings to mind. Does the government do any portion of the leg work on the production of any single barrel of oil? NO
Does the Government bare any portion of the production cost of a single barrel of oil? NO

I burn around 95 U.S. Gallons of road diesel daily.
Diesel at the Loves truck stop, on I-20 in Weatherford, Texas was 1.33/9 yesterday
which made my fuel stop cost 127.29
Using (close guesstimated figures)
Tax................... 0.50 @95 GALS. 47.50
Producer............ 0.15 @95 GALS. 14.25
Vendor.............. 0.10 @95 GALS. 9.50
.............................................--------
............................................. 71.25
Less Cost................................ 127.29
Total...................................... 56.04
56.04 (aprox.) of my 127.29 purchase goes toward production and, transportation of, the 95 gallon's, I purchased.
Plug these figures back together and I have a fuel cost of aprox. 2600.00 a month. which makes the tax on that amount of fuel aprox. 950.00 bucks a month. Deduct the tax and, my fuel would cost 84 cents a gallon.
I would have no complaints at 84 cents a gallon.

Re: Update #3!

Cowboy.
Indeed it does make one wonder.
In the last 24 hours gas has gone up 4cents per gallon./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
$1.61 per gallon,diesel fuel $1.63 per gallon.
What I find strange 10 miles away gas & diesel 14 cents cheaper,/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif
also the oil barges have a 2 or 3 day wait before unloading for there so many of them.

I won't get into politics or big business or I just might down load/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif..but just like any landfill there a odor./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Hows the Ford coming along./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Have a great day and stay /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

Re: Update #3!

I dropped $40 bucks in my pickup down in La Jolla CA the other day to get home from work (76 mile trip one way) gas was at $1.799 for 87octane, 1.899 on middle grade and 1.999 for premium. Needless to say my Dodge Ram doesn't even get to sniff the better grades anymore. Here in the local area, it is $1.539 (cheapest found) for regular unleaded. Haven't bought diesal in awhile as I have to replace the synchro's in the reverse gear on the Kubota.
Did everyone notice the top 3 or so oil companies posted the highest profits ever over the last two quarters? Sure makes you wonder!
