Gate Locking Ideas

I have a field access road which borders a junk yard on the neighboring property. People were dumping all kinds of junk along the road. I tried several different gates, none of which did much good. The type of lock really didn't matter since most of the time the gate was just torn out with a vehicle & chain.

I eventually installed a hidden game camera and caught several trespassers but law enforcement didn't do a whole lot to stop the problem. I eventually gave up and closed the road with boulders & logs. I had to cut another field access road closer to my house.

Winter weather solves my gate situation. Now with snow on the ground the neighbor has brought his cattle herds into the feed yards. I can leave both of my gates open until they are turned out this coming spring. The outer gate keeps his cows off the county road - the inner gate keeps his cows off my property.

I saw a cargo trailer the other day that had all sorts of super locks on it. I kind of laughed because a buddy of mine had someone take a cordless sawzall and just cut around the lock and walk on in. Sadly it always goes back to locks just keep honest people honest.
