On second thought, it would not suit backhoe operators, if you could not push the tractor as they dig.

The brakes are only meant to hold the machine in a given position

which they fail to do on a regular basis.

look, put a decent size rock on flat ground and put a rear wheel up on the rock. ease the machine one way or the other and try to hold it with the 'brake'.

good luck.

and don't tell me that using my machine on uneven ground is an incorrect application of the equipment.

i love my 2410, but like anything else, there will always be room for improvement. leaking hydraulic lines and lousy brakes aren't going to drive me to another brand... but they are what they are. lousy.

what wacky did was stupid, but that doesn't change the fact that the brakes on these machines are a joke.

Waiting to hear how Monday's (today) discussion with dealer and factory rep went. I hope that they realized that they are being paid to make it like new. They quoted what it would take and they need to honor it.

i guess that might be a relevant post in another thread. no worries... some people take longer to figure out how to use their machines than others.:)

Regardless if you think I am "stupid" or not. The brake did not do it's job. It was holding, I got off, went around the house, looked for my insecticide, found it, came back and while I was spraying, "pop"..... there she went. I have used many other tractors on hills, used parking brakes with no problem. Like I said before I never see anyone park tractors, get off and chock the wheels, move or check something, remove chocks put them where ever, get back on and continue. If you tell me you do this you are just as stupid. Because for the time you chock or remove the chock, the tractor could easily have done what mine did, pop out of park and runoff.

Okay, I went to my appointment, was meeting with the rep and the salesman and we were trying to figure out why the loader was $3200 vs $2800, minus the hydraulics. Could never get an answer other than "that is not how they come" and " I don't know what to tell you" I kept my cool and asked "how do you expect me to pay for the $3200 when I could get 1 for $2800 with the hydraulics?" The rep must have his hands tied because all he could do was get the loader for $2800. He could not give a reason why the price difference other than it is not right.:confused: The rep and the dealer said that the loader could be adjusted to fit level by moving the loader mount brackets, they said there is enough movement in the holes. I do not think so myself, the holes are not slotted.
Long story short, I got a new tractor, my old MMM, which fits level, and paid a $2500 difference. I let them know I was not happy, since they cannot make my old one right. Didn't matter, they don't care. I will NEVER be going to this dealer again. I will buy my own service and parts manuals. I will do all my own repairs, unless is a major repair which I will drive 1 1/2 hrs. to have done.

On a positive note, cost me $2500 but I know this has not been taken apart and reassembled half way by someone who could care less about customer satisfaction. I wish I could have resolved this differently but alas, I have piece of mind.:)

Thank you all for your support and ideas, this is a great website!!

Wacky, I am glad you got a new tractor (sorry it cost you $2500). If it was me, I would have been second guessing myself over every little thing on the old one. This way, you know that the new tractor has none of the problems that the accident/repair introduced.

Good to get it behind you and get back to enjoying using your tractor. Hopefully you can feel comfortable at some point about the parking brake holding properly. I don't have your brand of tractor so am just guessing, but could a stronger spring there somewhere help?

Perhaps you could sell some of the damaged parts and recover some of the $2500 difference it cost you...

Thanks. I don't think I will ever rely on the parking brake again:(. The brake is something that MF needs to change, it is sooo small for the size of the tractor IMO, and I hope they do before something worse happens. As for the old parts....I may end up using them one day, so I will set them in the Barn for now. Who knows, someone on here may need them one day.

At the end of the day you must be relieved to have it all behind you. Now that mine is laid up with clutch issues I am going a little stir crazy, am used to getting on and getting it done.

Happy tractoring!
