The templates for drilling the holes were what held the whole thing up for so long. But, apparently that was no reason to get it right! - You got'ta love engineers!!?

I know this is a very old thread but I just purchased a GC2310 and i got the filter guard for it but it came with no directions or template for drilling the holes. Anyone still have a template for this or can steer me in the right direction?

It's pretty unlikely anyone will still have that template all these years later.

Providing it is an original part, I would try contacting MF, and see if they can put you in touch with someone who can assist in that quest.

That was how I was able to get the scoop on the filter shield, way back when it was being developed. I sent an E-mail to them, and it wound up eventually being passed on to the engineer working on that project.

I have reached out to MF and they don’t have anything they can find yet. There still working on it though.

I believe he has the original equipment one.

Thanks. I hadn't read all of the thread starting with #1. I saw that I had even commented back in 2007. Where has the time gone? I had to replace the filter on mine a while back because it had rusted and started leaking. While I was under it removing the steering cylinder a couple of weeks ago I noticed it had some rust on it so I cleaned it up and sprayed some MF grey paint on it.

I didn't even know there was an OEM version, but glad I got the one from RetailRems because it protects the HST fan.

Yes, a long, long, time ago, Gc's were made without any filter protection.

I believe the first to have problems, involved incidents with frozen snow.

As people pushed the limits of the machines, they found more creative ways to break the hydraulic filters off. This prompted MF to create the filter shield.

It was soon noted, by dealers, that new machines were being shipped with attached protection. And, existing owners, were asking for the fix.

However, even with the factory shield installed, some still managed to get heir tractors in situations where they would damage the filter, or the fan, which prompted the aftermarket products.

:) I've had my retailrems sentinel since Feb STILL have not put it onto the gc2400. no garage so all outside work and weather just been crap LOL
