my rotary cutter gearbox is leaking oil while i'm cutting grass. its not leaving spots on the concrete where i park it so i assume its goin out in the field. seal allowing some to escape i assume? i have to add some every time i use it(85W). is this normal? should i fill with grease and if so how much? i dont see anything wrong with bottom seal. no wires or anything in there and under deck is clean.

Check the vent sticking out of the gear box, if its stuck or clogged pressure would be building up inside. The seal is the easiest way out for the fluid when pressure builds up. You should remove the vent, clean it with an oil based penetrant spray (WD-40, PB Blaster, Break-Free, etc) and blow compressed air through it to make sure it opens/closes properly.

Thanks, I didn't think about the vent.
