Anyone have any experience with GEICO ??? I ran the numbers through GEICO and it would save me $1400 a year on one 20 year old car that my 21 year old son is listed on.

I had them years ago and my one claim was handled very quickly and to my complete satisfaction. Recently, after catching my independent agent in untruths, I got a quote from GEICO and the same coverage came to $1100 a year less than the local agent. We switched back and have been pleased with the level of customer service.

I had geico about 20 years ago. They didn't take care of me in a claim I filed and I had to fight hard with them. From what I've heard, they've gotten better and people are happy but they (and Progressive) have both lost my business for life.

I had my independent agent do some quotes for my ATV's. One of the quotes was from Geico. I then had my State Farm agent go over the quote and compare to the policy I had with SF. State Farm was actually cheaper and offered more coverage.

Here's a quote from Warren Buffet:

( I estimate that about 40% of all auto drivers in the country can save money by insuring with GEICO. The figure is not 100% because insurers differ in their underwriting judgments, with some favoring drivers who live in certain geographical areas and work in certain occupations more than GEICO does. I believe, however, that GEICO more frequently offers the low price than does any other national carrier selling insurance to all comers. You can quickly find out whether you can save money by going to www.geico.com or by calling 800-555-2756. )

Of course - he may be biased. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I had GEICO for several years in Fl. Had one claim and the wife had one speeding ticket. Rate did not go up and it was a LOT cheaper than State Farm.
Since moving back to KY, I now have everything thru Farm Bureau and have good rates with them. No cliams or tickets yet though /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Of course just moving to KY saved about another 1/3 off my auto ins premiums with Geico, then saved about 20% more going to Farm Bureau on farm and vehicles.
So my ins premiums for the same vehicles in KY are about 1/2 of what they were in FL for same coverage on same vehicles.

We have had Geico insurance for three vehicles for about four years. The premiums are moderate, and no negative issues with claims.

We also have been able to save another $150 a year because we dropped AAA in favor of Geico roadside which is only a few dollars add-on to the basic policy. We have used the roadside assistance/towing quite a few times, and service was always prompt and hassle-free.

These posts actually surprised me. I figured GEICO spent enough on obnoxious TV commercials that they'd actually be higher than most. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif It's been many years ago when I called GEICO and they refused to insure me back then because I had a teenage daughter who had gotten a couple of speeding tickets. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I first had GEICO when I was in the military and then after I retired for many years until they started filling my mailbox with junkmail. Because of the junkmail, I quit and went to another carrier. That carrier kept my insurance until I had two accidents (neither my fault) in a year's time. They cancelled me! They aren't in business anymore, so it wouldn't do any good to say their name.

I went back to GEICO, but asked them to limit the junkmail. I've received none whatsoever. If I get something from GEICO in the mail, I know I need to open and read it. Also, they had the best rates I've found. I like their website and the ability to get them to send me a reminder online when my payments are due. They do an electronic bank draft free of charge and only as I direct, so I don't even have to write a check.

Every claim I've made with them in the past 6 years has been handled to my satisfaction. I can definitely recommend them.

I have used GEICO for 20 years and have had two fenderbenders ( one mine, one the wife) and they did not raise our rates either time. Have yet to make a claim for my needs, these were to cover the liability for the other driver. One thing I know to be true, if you get a ticket for not using the seatbelt, Geico will cancel you if they find out. Same for radar detectors, they ask if you have one on their survey and if you say yes they will cancel you. Chet
