hr3. The Honda generator will be too small in the near future ie: well pump & some other additions to our camp. Yes we already use propane and will be expanding our use of it. Propane refrig.
skyco. I got the generac from a friend of mine with the intention of using it at our camp.
Toboy. I will be installing a large tank which can be filled by a propane co. Our propane needs are for running a stove to cook on, a refrig, a few wall mounted heaters, lamps & the generator.
Do you think it is not a good idea to use this generator the way I plan to use it ?
I think you are good:thumbsup: Only caveat will be the battery and standby system drain in the unit...personally I'd just install a battery disconnect switch and leave it off when gone..maybe a small solar charger to keep the battery up if you are gone for long periods as they discharge to some extent even disconnected.
One tip- don't know how loud it is but you might want to put it a good distance away..at my camp my "silenced" generator is locked into 2" pipe steel cage that is encapsulated into a 1200 lb concrete pad to help insure it remains mine. At about 1700 lbs total some thief isn't just gonna easily toss it into the back of a pickup. I wish I had put it farther away*, partly due to noise and also exhaust smell.... and thats one plus of LP generators to me they don't stink like gasoline or diesel
*future project to relocate and bury plastic conduit AC feed back to the camp.
