So is that going to be a problem for me ? The generator is 8KW, 240 volts and 33 amps. You are saying it will be using more amps on the start up then what the generator will put out ? So now what do I do ? If I wire it 120 volts I can obtain 66.6 amps, but then the well pump will have to be a 120 volt pump ?

A 120v pump will pull at least twice as many amps as the same size 220v pump, so that wont help.
Per: STARTING LOAD EXAMPLES you could be at around 20 amps for inrush which should be doable with your generator.

Wire the pump 220v. and don't worry about it the generator can take the load..

I have a Generac gen set at my house near you in Walton ny.I think your setup is more the enough to handle the well and camp.Wire the well for 220v it will draw less amps that way.Any questions email me direct.Retired LIRR Electrician,Ron

Simple a 3/4 hp 2220v moter draws 5.2 ams running.. inrush should be about 45amps..

I agree about inrush. It is the momentary "locked rotor" current as the motor just starts to accelerate from stationary. It will be high compared to running current. Usually tho it is no more than 5x nameplate current. Even if it were 45A I think your gen would handle it OK because the pump starts at almost zero load and the load increases with RPM. ... but current decreases with RPM:thumbsup:. At a 45A draw your gen output V would drop, but the lightly loaded motor would accelerate quickly reducing its draw to below your 33A gen rating. -- I have started a 5HP compressor on a 4400W gen. When
connected to the mains I had measured peak startup/inrush of 120A @220V on this compressor, yet the gen capable of sustaining only about 22A was able to start the centrifugally unloaded compressor[barely] and then run it all the way to cutoff at ~24A. This is an example of an extreme much less than you will see, to give you some basis for comparison.

I have a Kohler 10CCO rated at 10kW - powered by a Kubota diesel. It easily starts my 220v well pump (supplied by a 30 amp 220v breaker from house panel). A a matter of fact, it supplies the whole house including the 220V microwave and 4 ton central AC. All other major applicances are propane. I just tell the wife not to do laundry while running on backup power. I know the AC, including furnace blower, is running while well pump kicks in and out.
