In all seriousness, I just posted so I could follow this thread better. Because I eventually do want a pond loop geo system.

The only experience I have had with a pond Geo system was that in our area the algae forms on the pipe and insulates it to the point it looses much of it's effeciency.

I have read the open loop systems like pond loops and well loops are more prone to problems from water deposits. The technician that services our ground loop geothermal told me that most of his service calls are due to water deposit related problems on the open loop systems. But I have also read many posts on this forum from members that have used open loop systems for many years and have not had any deposit problems. I have also read that pond loops and well loops are more efficient than ground loops.

I would think thered be a danger of freezing a small pond solid in a northern winter when pumping its heat to a house.

Yeah thats a big problem up north. My uncle had an excavating business, put one in for a customer and it wasn't up to the task late winter.
