Getting rid of racoons

Wonder if that thing had rabies to come back after him.

Raccoons are tough little guys, but last year one of them ran into something a little tougher. Found a Racoon head and a bunch of fir in the back yard, nothing else. Surprised I didn’t hear the ruckus.
Great horned owl?

I learned last year that racoons are tougher than they look. We've got a big problem with them coming up on our front porch every night and terrorizing our cats and stealing the cat food. One night I caught them on the front porch eating and opened the door to scare them away. When I did my Australian Shepherds nearly knocked me down to get outside. We've got two, and both of them are 50-55 lb. dogs that were raised in the country (no pampered house dogs here, they're tough) and it took both of them to dispatch one racoon. I couldn't believe it. There we are, all three of us, myself and both dogs, doing circles in the front yard fighting a racoon. I should have thought about it before opening the front door because I should have known the dogs would go nuts if they saw the coon. Lesson learned.

Around here the best deterrent for raccoons is a good dog. I'd be very tempted to install a dog door in the house. It sounds like the two dogs can take care of themselves.

That guy in the video needs to start passing out some salad to those raccoons. Their legs aren’t going to reach the ground soon.
