I don't know many people who eat Christmas Trees, nor do I know of a tree which has been genetically modified so that you can spray an herbicide on it. I don't have a problem with responsible use of that and other pesticides, I just don't believe that it's a cure-all as Monsanto would have us believe. I've said it before; I consider GMOs to be the biggest threat out there now to our food chain.
Years ago I took a 3 credit herbicide course; the instructor stated that all Agent Orange ever caused was acne, and DDT didn't cause problems, it was the added ingredients which caused problems. That and a few other things have given me a rather cynical look toward the leaders in the pesticide field.
You sure that wasn't due to the outbreak of avian flu in the midwest? Tens of millions of laying hens in egg factory farms were killed to make sure it didn't spread.
My wife used to work with children born to vets who had been exposed to agent orange - Fort Devens area in Mass. The kids had diminished brains, and in some cases - just brain stems. Good old agent orange. Talk to vets who were exposed - the VA is even now starting to recognize it!
I don't recall what nasty stuff was in Agent Orange but not likely glyphosate which wasn't invented until 1994, and not heavily marketed until a few years later. Viet Nam was pretty wound down by then. Always good to know that Uncle Sam was looking out for the boys.
Word at the time was it was due to a new law about free range hens, or at least not confined space cages. Since so many farms were selling to fast food companies and so many of their places were in CA, the costs spread out nationwide. I just know they went from under a dollar a dozen to over three dollars a dozen in a matter of days.
If runoff is going in your well, you have another problem...runoff - carried in the water after rain, finds its way into our water
