Done, power in, no ledge hit and will be getting back money. Peace and quiet. Next a phone line. Back home for few days then heading back up. Again, thanks for all your feedback and ideas.

Last month we made 300KW than we used, it was a light month only about 1500KW hours used. When we use the stock heaters a lot, the KW can be 2400-2500KW. With the meter charge, distribution charge, and about 5 more silly charges they add, it looks like a Cable TV or Cell Phone bill!

Our bill was $93, typical bill for that about of KW would have been a bit less than $250.

Just curious, who gets your green credits in your state? THe co-op? I believe that can be negotiated by the producer. When I moved my house I was going to go off grid, until the electric co and I had a discussion and I found out how much they were going to charge me for transmission costs. I had a nice discussion with some people about green credits and that they wouldn't be getting mine.

On a side note to the OP, find yourself a retired electric company guy/gal, buy them some beer/dinner, and you would be surprised what they can tell you. I got two quotes, then I called an electric company guy who called another guy. Lets say I saved a ton of loot by putting in my own poles and running everything else underground. All signed off and blessed. Now they aren't responsible for anything past the meter beside the road, the rest is all my responsibility.

As a side note, find out how much it would cost to have a land line installed, then call the electric co afterwards. Bet they hang that wire on those poles. Besides, some states have laws requiring rural customers to be connected. I'd also tell you to contact your local state rep. THey seem to know all the ins and outs of this stuff, since they got paid to pass the law anyway.
