Gold rush

I think he screwed himself by saying he wanted 1000 ounces. Halfway through the show he said he wanted 500-1000 then. With the equipment they have now Id be suprised if they got 150 ounces.

Unless they get a gold dredge like those guys on bering sea gold. Althey need is a trackhoe, a ton of licenses and permits i bet and a barge and the traumel. Those guys are getting 100oz a week!

Another charlatan drama queen show. Did you see in last nights episode where the girl "accidently" falls into the sea. If there was ever a staging where it was asked of her to take a dip and make it look accidental, that was it. She is not a very good actress as she did little to to disguise the fact that the act was on purpose. My word am I getting to hate these shows. I feel Discovery has to think we are so stupid that its all we deserve. Why isn't anyone doing a show on the Panama canal reconstruction or something that would be interesting for at least an episode. Discovery Channel used to be that way but they've established more a exploitment attitude because it seems to be a money maker. If it ween't for the machinery, I'd never watch it. As a matter of fact, knowing what they are doing, I should never watch this crap again but it is as hard as turning away from a train wreck.

I agree it was staged but not by the show but by the girl i think. She herself said how cold she was and wanted to go in as she did not bring any other chlothes. So she fell into the water as he already said they not going in. Her falling in makes them have to go in.

Also did you notice it looked like they were right offshore of ther camp he could of run her in in no time.

I have not read but from page 10 in this thread, forgive me if this has been said;

IMO,

RE: The claims of "We got this many ounces and that many ounces" .

If you were mining, and there were cameras watching you, knowing that for every dollar you claim publically, that you will be paying taxes on said, would't you tend to maybe...., maybe only claim A THIRD or LESS of what you really find? :D

Come on, they dive'd up the gold, the Hoffman crew that is, and what was it, like 8K each for how long of work? I bet ya they figure out expenses plus a tiny bit and only claim that. The rest, well what uncle Sam don't know, does not hurt uncle Sam.

Nope, I ain't buying there claims one bit. Would you work 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 4.5 months for 8K and WANT to go back? That is $1777.78 a month or $444.45 cents a week or $63.50 a day or, lets lower the hours worked in a day to 12, sound fair, ok, that is $5.29 an HOUR! Now, what is the minimum wage in the state of Alaska? What do they demand workers be paid per hour? That is gross, NOW SUBTRACT TAXES AND FICA ETC! LOL!

LOL, ya following me here?

They would be FOOLS to claim everything they make. I bet ya Gramps had a talk w/ Parker after his little 55K brick stunt. If you were to spend a lot of money in fuel to melt a brick would you make small bricks? Maybe, but I doubt it.

Pulling Gold out of the ground is a CASH BUSINESS. THAT is why Todd didn't tell parker what was up and Parker is too young yet to know I bet! Well, know I bet ya he knows.

I do not know the process of turning gold into currency, maybe there is a mandatroy deal like when you cash in scrap you have to show ID, even so, that can be beat.

I was thinking the same thing but i think the announcer said it was like $5500 or 6500 for the 3 month. I was like no way would i leave my family and the comfort of home to go live in a trailer barely any water or power to work like a dog 6-7 days a week for ~$2k month. Even working 2 jobs here at home for minimum wadge cant you make that much?

When all was said an done they didnt get to 100 oz, when they divied it up they gave each guy the gold an it added up to $8,000???I think thats the # I heard. For 6 mounths work in north west bum *****???Some brown bagging went on , or SOMETHING. The off shore is the way to go, but they all run crap for dredges, exept for the backhoe, they seemed to have a good set up.An it still broke down.
Army Grunt

Only 4 months work.

The guys that are dredging ing the ocean are idiots picked by the producers and staged to get the maximum "entertainment" for the show.

What they don't let you see are those other dredges out there in the background that dredge all day every day for the season with a crew and never have a problem.

They have been doing this for years off that coast. They also mine the coastal area. There is a mining camp just up the beach that recreational miners can go too each summer for a few weeks.

That crap about the 400 being rare is just that Crap. I know of 6 in Mississippi alone lol. Plus theres a few models of final drives that interchange with each other. On the D8 the under carriage rebuild on that one could hit 40 K. We put an aftermarket undercarriage on the D4H at work and it was over13k. It was rails, rollers, 4 idlers, and sprockets.

Previews said they are going to south America! WTF??????????

Shades of Ice Road Truckers. They went from Alaska to India and then South America. Still wondering how they drove across the Pacific? :confused3:

just watched thier after guyana show- todd is finally making the right decision. It appears that their producer realized honesty is what bolster the ratings.

Are these guys every going to strike it rich? All they do is spend, spend, spend and one hardship after another. Give it up boys....

I too watched this show when it first aired and thought it was entertaining. After a couple of episodes things happening on the show, like big pieces of gold equipment showing up with no explaination, mystery people all of a sudden on the show, it simply started not making any sense.

I googled Gold rush Alaska Fake and wow was I surprised. This entire show is scripted. Just like any regular tv show would be. All the "actors" are given a script for the days shooting. Its all staged. Any gold found is just a bonus. Everyone on the show is getting paid a salary. The "gold mine" for the prospectors is the money they recieve from the producers of the show.

After reading the information about the staged show it all made sense. How could they mine for the whole summer and not make expenses but come back again for the next season. Easy....Its all just another scripted tv show.

This entire show is scripted.

ALL reality TV shows are scripted. Nobody would watch if there wasn't drama. If nobody watched then no sponsor money. No sponsor money then no show. What night(s) is Gold Rush on?

There is the word.DRAMA. thats what sometimes makes TBN entertaining also.:licking::laughing: But at least on TBN we dont try to represent the real thing..

Yes thanks Chopped. My point exactly. I enjoy a little entertainment from the tv but jeez dont try to fool the viewer. I dont know why these shows are not required to show a disclaimer at the beginning that what you are about to view has all been staged.

I may be a fool but I don't believe it is totally scripted. They can't be that good as actors. Are they paid yes, that is how they partially finance the operation and remove some of the risk, but I believe a great deal of it is true and I don't think it is totally scripted. Very entertaining to me. I appears to me that the South America thing is done, they will go back to the Yukon and I hope the other crews are in the show also. I don't think they would have had an after show after one episode if the whole concentration was now going to go to the jungle. As for making a show the logistics of the production are just too difficult there. It gets cold in Alaska, but they don't have the jungle, snakes, skeeters, and malaria to deal with.

I know for a fact it is all scripted and fake. One of my uncles former employees is a bush pilot in northern Canada. He actually flew some of the guys on the show, and was amazed at just how fake it is. He said nothing about the show is real.

Of course, it is entertaining to gather up some people and watch them try to do something they are clueless about for the most part. You start to feel sorry for them eventually, and identify with their problems. At that point you need to know how the story ends and that produces - ratings! It also plays heavily on the pioneer spirit that we like. But, when expensive equipment materializes with no income, that's a give away that it is more fake than real.
