None -yet. Until then FunBuggy (EZ-Go) will have to do!
Well, contrary to what many people thought 31 years ago (including myself), I actually made it to my retirement day! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

In about 3.5 hours, I'll be out of here! I have to "look" busy until 10:00 a.m., at which time a reception begins. I guess a number of people will get one last shot at me, I'll get to shake a lot of hands, get a few gifts, and then I'm OUTTA HERE!!

It's been an interesting journey, and I really am very appreciative of everything that I've been able to do. But we are really looking forward to all the new adventures that are awaiting us as we begin this next chapter in our lives.

Of course, I expect that TBN will continue to be a large part of my daily routines. I suppose I may end up being a bit more erratic with postings for awhile until I settle into some kind of routine. But I'll make it work.

O.k. now. Which one of you "veteran" retired guys is responsible for sending me my new membership card?? Just please spell my name right! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hot Digidy - the magic moment arives. Gives one a real rush. Take some time and enjoy it.

Next comes the sad news. There are no more coffee breaks, weekends off or holidays. The new boss is likely a snarly old fellow who thinks 12 hrs. per day mending and improving is just normal.

Happy Retirement!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congradulations! You've been working at that job for two years longer than I've been married....And I know how long that's seemed... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Enjoy your new-found freedom!

Oh, and by the way, you don't have to look too busy...whatta they gonna do? Fire you?

Have a good one!

A friend that was ready to retire a month ago told me one day he wasn't sure he wanted to retire. When I asked him why, he said because he wouldn't get anymore paid vacations! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Thanks Egon. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Congrats Garry! 31 years is an impressive career, you certainly deserve a fantastic retirement.

Now get all the retirement bugs worked out for me, I'm only 10-15 years behind you /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Congratulations!

That has to be one weird feeling. Kind of like that feeling you get before you go on vacation -- only this time you don't have to worry about coming back and having to do the daily grind again.

I bet you will end up being more busy now than you were working a full-time job. Lucky dog! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congratulations!! The first retirement project should be to build yourself a safe haven...I find that a pole barn works well. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Lucky dog - Enjoy it.

A word of warning (based on my dad & FIL's experience - I've still got 25-30 years to go and thats for early retirement)

Your "honey do" list gets stale faster once you are retired. The boss expects results quicker when you no longer have to go to work. You job is over, but you will still be working... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Congratulations, Garry! Now as for the information in your profile about playing golf in every state . . . I think my two favorites are Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage and Pipestem State Park and Resort in West Virginia. However, we have several interesting courses right around here in my area, so let me know when you're going to be here. I'm a lousy golfer and won't be any competition, but I like to get out there and beat a few little white balls to death every once in awhile.

Hi Gary,

Congratulations on a noble career and reaching a great "milestone."

TBN can be your "job" in retirement, no problem. You have been a top member since day one. Let's shoot for 31 years on TBN!!!

Again, congratulations, and enjoy your golf and hobbies... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, so far you're keeping everything up to date! I read this about 11:30 am Eastern time, so it must be about 10:30 am your time, so you must have been retired for about 1/2 hour. I clicked on your profile, and it says your occupation is "risk manager (retired)". Thanks for such a timely edit!

Enjoy it. You earned it. Let me know when you're traveling down I-95 or the Turnpike in Florida; if you get below Fort Pierce you'll only be a couple of miles from me. I don't play golf, but Port St. Lucie is the home of the PGA school and many excellent courses.

Congrats, Garry!
Before my dad retired, he was an inside salesman (always on the phone). He retired and said he would never answer another phone. That lasted a few years- now he runs when the phone rings. It must be some Pavlovian response.

Have you assessed all the risks around your place?

Welcome to the club.

It does take a little getting used to, not having to go to work every day. After a lifetime of 12 to 20 hour days, it's a little unusual being able to ease into your day at whatever time you want without feeling guilty about it. After retiring, I consulted for 3 to 4 months every year for about 4 years because I did miss it. Then I realized that working was interfering with my other stuff so I gave it up and have been enjoying full retirement ever since. That kept my wife happy too. Retirement is great!!!!

You do need some place to hide out though, just for some peace and quiet ... pole barn, shop, golf club. I'm sure you'll find somewhere.

Enjoy it. You've earned it. I hope you and your wife have a great time.
