Good Help (So Hard to Find)

I had some roofing companies come over to give me an estimate for a new roof. The first guy to come over ask me if I had a latter he could borrow......NEXT........

Baggage. All help has baggage that has to be understood and either accommodated, compensated for, ignored, endured, or fired.

Farm/ranch work is inherently complex, dangerous, and outside the experience of most workers unless they have lots of rural experience.
................. ................
.

Well put. I think that is a great explanation.
Dave.

Took a brand new GMC 3500 van back to the dealer for warranty work. 50 something year old service manager helped us at the counter.

Me.....The pinion seal in the rear end is leaking.
Him....Which side.
My partner.....We're......I can't type it here or I will get banned.

Idiocy does not discriminate based on age.

My vision of perdition:

EVERYONE but me has risen one step beyond their level of competence.

Think about it, you can't get anyone anywhere to do anything properly, and only you are aware of it, all others being oblivious.:confused2:

Don't overestimate what young guys know about work - ranch work or any other kind. I don't think there is an 'On The Ranch' video game, so how would they know? :)

Seriously, teenagers look grown up but it's a thin disguise; or have you forgotten? (smile)
Dave.

Farmville, it's on Facebook. lots of kids play it.

Not sure now who described looking for a mechanic. Well, I have an experience from the other side, I worked in a car shop for almost a year and he hardest part was to watch the owner bust things up due to sheer stupidity.

I mean assembling oil pump with a hammer (getting the intake in) till he busted the housing and new pump was needed.

Braking tap after tap because he never accepted the fact that they need to be lubricated and go in straight.

Cutting car frames with plasma - it cut really bad - and than filling those holes with welds. Can you say structural integrity?

I have mech eng masters degree and worked side by side with very fine tool and die makers and somebody like that is just pure torture to watch.

I agree with everybody on what they are saying. Yes i have hired and fired many employees over the years. Guess i just expected a little more from these guys since one had worked for me in my shop as a parts changer and did my lube jobs and the other was a ranch forman for a customer of mine and have know him for years.
