Roy, good luck on the job hunt. I think the stove biz is related to the housing biz. Just this week, they announced that SE Michigan had 400 new home starts. That is the best it's been since 2008. However, in 2004, they had 16K in the same time period... We have a long way to go!!

It's more involved then that...and we worker bees don't know all the ins and outs, I'm sure. There's more competition in the wood stove market now...and all competing for a shrinking market. There will be those that survive...and those that don't.

I've stayed out of this sidebar conversation...but 300UGUY has good advice.

My philosophy has been If you see a wasps nest you don't go poking it with a stick to see if there are any in there. :)

Yes, but if that nest was blocking your access to your children, house, and tractor, you might not be so giving/forgiving. I agree it's a toxic environment, but David is gonna put up with a few "stings" to get to see his children. I think any of us would.

David(Moss) sorry to hear of her reaction - congrats on making it to 20, doesn't sound like the last few were easy.

Drew congrats on the motor-home here is to miles of enjoyment.

Roy sorry to hear about your employment, how does your move affect your contract prospects?

Rural Vermont isn't a hotbed of manufacturing...but I do have a couple of prospects. I'm not going into any detail at this point...don't want to jinx myself...but there have been interviews prior to the layoff.

Didn't have any work scheduled, but I made a few hours by watering the lobby plants and setting up for a big wedding this weekend. Took Margie out for supper at Paramore's Too in Blountstown. The special was a large 2 way. I got the catfish and she had shrimp. We split a meal and still had food to bring home.

5.35" of rain between 2-6 this afternoon. Had a river 100' wide and about 200 yds long and a foot deep running down our side yard and back to the old creekbed. Never saw any water stand there, not in Sandy, not this spring and summer when were getting heavy rains every few days and were above normal for the entire year in th first 6 months.

Jim,

That summarizes my perspective pretty well.
I don't really see where I have a choice... Not when it comes to my daughters...
