Good morning! 44˚ and the WBS is on again.
Drew here is the Craig's List photo of the table we bought. It has 7 leaves with it so it will double in size.

Thanks Don. And others. Pretty clear to me I have to look very hard in CraigsList before I buy anything new. If they say nonsmoking house, at least that should mean no burn marks right? Just have to ask a lot of questions before I drive anywhere and hope folks are reasonably honest. Challenge is you'll never know if the seat wobbles from poor design or loose bolts until one sits on it and squirm around a bit. Some chair seats sit lower than others. Some seatbacks have some degree of lumbar support and some look like they do but don't. The table is easy, it's the chairs that concern me due to my arthritis and bad back.

Plus they are at the end of a long room and it's where your eye goes looking into the LR and DR so it needs to look more than utilitarian. And this is a table primarily for adults, not kids, so something slightly higher would be ok. Having said all that, I have to go run my hands over it and sit down on the chairs. See how heavy or lightweight the chairs are. And what happens when you rock back on one even a little. The prices on Craigslist look to be half or one quarter of new cost and sometimes, the really good quality stuff pops up for low cost due to a move or divorce or something. Really want solid wood furniture and want it locally made if possible.

Don, I can see that table loaded down with food at Thanksgiving with all the leaves in and a crowd of Texans stuffed around it.

And I grew up with a JD B, electric start, rubber tires, hand clutch, love the pic. pucka pucka

28 with a nice sunny 52 on the menu for lunch.

Beautiful moonset this morning while hiking around with Coco and then feeding the birds. Dave, any birds hang around in the winter up your way?

Great love story, Dave...love at first sight.

Nice JD B pic. Ever watch the Mecum antique tractor auctions on RFD? Old JDs, Olivers, Allis Chalmers, etc.

I think we are now in the longest period ever without letting our woodstove go out...been burning continuously for a month. I know that's nothing for many of you, but around here we usually have a few consecutive warm days in January.

27 degrees going up to 57 today in clear weather.
Big work day here, hopefully the last one, new hanging doors going on rear of barn, just duplicated the ones in front, plus the window guys are coming to flash the last door installed, plus do some final caulking.
Meanwhile I have two helpers here today will keep busy keeping them busy, particularly the younger one to pick up sticks and brush. Am hoping I might get back in the woods while I have a helper and let him do the heavy hauling.

now on to more important things. I liked the joke. I thought it would go the other way,
his looking into her face and telling her his favorite comic character was PopEye.;)

well, you already have the groaner well greased....

finding a lot more interesting things on CraigsList, here's one in my home town:
Bassett Dining Room Set

Unless they took that photo back on the day they bought it, and then messed it up, that set looks great and sounds like a good deal.

Nostalgia pic for a Wednesday morning. My uncle on his John Deere B picking cotton in central Texas.

Thanks for sharing picture, it's great to see older tractors in action.

Excuse my ignorance of the B model - has that tractor got twin exhuast pipes ?
I couldn't work out why, if they really are exhausts, one is silver and the other is painted JD green.
One gets hot, one doesn't get hot could explain but why would that be ?

First cup of coffee has been poured. 54° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 77° with lots of sun. Going do a little drive up into the mountains today. Tortilla Flat. Now a days its a tourist trap. But still a great drive.
Drew, like the dinning set.
Dave, that caught my eye.
All up north, stay warm.
Good Morning All.

35 this morning and headed to 52 today. Snow coming in tonight. Forecast is down from an inch and half to a quarter of an inch.

Txdon nice picture.

Drew don't work to hard.

Dave good story.

Eric. The green stack I believe is the intake. It's so they can drive through all the high water they have in Texas. Laughing:).

Not a lot of bird activity to see here in winter unless feeders are used. Black capped Chickadees hang around all winter but they stay in the woods. Crows and Ravens but they move around the area quite a bit. Pileated Woodpeckers chisel wood all winter. Ruffed Grouse don't migrate. Blue Jays.

I've been thinking about about putting out a feeder.

You may be right, My dad has a JDb he got from my wife's grandfather - I'll check it out.

Drew, you are so right about the chairs. 14 chairs came with the table most have since been sold at a garage sale and the rest will be replaced soon.

1 is exhaust, the other the breather. Here's a pic of my B, you can see the slits in the green pipe.

Dave I have two Finch feeders and two large suet feeders and the Birds are busy coming and going. The Finch feeders are filled with black Sunflower seeds and they love that. The suet I get from local Meat processing plant for next to nothing for enough for all winter.I enjoy watching the Birds Winter and Summer.

Good Morning. 1035, mostly cloudy, 48F with 96% humidity. Forecast high of 51F with 100% chance of rain this afternoon, and a low of 43F tonight. We have had showers off and on all morning. Nothing heavy though. I've got my AM cardio done and breakfast ate. Doing household chores this morning. Will go in to water the lobby plants this afternoon, and if Margie is in the mood, we will go get something to eat when she gets off work.

Don, loved the old picture. We sold a single row corn picker 13 years ago when Daddy died. In a way I would have liked to have kept it, but with most of the Larro Ranchero planted in pines, there wasn't enough land left to make it worth the trouble. And it was getting really hard to find parts.

Hope everyone is having a good day,

Larro

Still snowing a bit here. We are really getting into the teeth of winter, it doesn't let up. Going to get down below zero tonight. The last 2 winters have been pretty stout, I think this gonna push more folks to move south.

Good afternoon all. 34F this morning made it to 36F mostly overcast with the occasional break to let in sunshine. 1-2 inch of snow forecast for later this afternoon. Filled up wheel barrows with wood, processed more kindling. Haven't started in on 10 speed front wheel, got bottom bracket done yesterday and it is smooth! Have established the old chain is shot (.07 in 6 in of chain twice the service limit)

ESPECIALLY the retirees who have been given the shaft by Rick the P*rick Snyder...his pension tax and elimination of the property tax credit for seniors cost me TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS in tax refunds this year. WHAT AN A**HOLE.
