Today is one those special days I will never forget. Would be 62 years of marriage. After 5 years I still miss her.
Drew’s postings of his TBN member visit bring back good memories.
I understand. She was a special person.
Drew and I had a great time, visiting the Cotton Gin. We first went into the museum which was just a smallish area for the actual museum. Then I asked the lady in there, "Can we go visit the actual gin?" She said yes, but be careful. So we had to be a little bit nosy, and walk past some "No Admittance" signs while a couple of guys were trying to get an old Massey running with a few sniffs of ether. (gas engine). I am glad Drew took some great pics of the big Bessemer engine that is 99 years old. It was bought by a coop way back. It is down for some repairs on the south flywheel but they need to get it running again before April, so that they can keep the claim of "longest continually operated cotton gin in America".
Afterwards, we went to a TexMex restaurant, and after a bit of a wait, we got some great food. Drew surprised me and got the Tres Fajitas platter that had Beef, Chicken and Shrimp with grilled onions and bell peppers. He must've been hungry because he ate it all. I had a great chicken breast covered with a white wine cream sauce with shrimp and whatever they use for scallops these days. I kind of pushed the scallops to the side, because I'm spoiled and like the real things (which I've only had a couple times in my life).
Drew sent me back home with the same container I had brought him the apple pie in, with some almonds and some chocolate. Well, my wife loves almonds and tried them....she said they were the best almonds she had ever eaten. Some organic grown in CA I believe. And the chocolate was a hit too, from Ireland, with some mint and truffle mixed in. She said to tell Drew Thank you again!
Then in the evening, we went to the steakhouse and Drew got himself a nice piece of Prime Rib. Wifey and I both got chicken (I love beef but I try to cut back on it here and there.). It was a great meal, with Drew sharing stories of his travels, his grandfather's butter company and more. Thank you Drew!
A really good day, and I'm so glad that Drew shared some time with us.
Prayers for our team!
