Good Morning Paul,
A sawzall with a good blade works as fast as a torch for cutting up tanks in my experience
Yes, absolutely! The owner of the oil business that I drive for does exactly that ! Cuts the old oil tank in half with a sawzall and then cleans all the gunk out before bringing it to the scrap yard!

I am pretty sore today, because of all the Trex decking that I loaded into my truck at HD yesterday!

It’s sitting in the DW now destined for Vt ! It was just shy of $1300 for materials just for the 10’ by 18’ deck in front of the family room !
Enhanced basic with the groove on the bottoms? I was looking at the Select, $72 a piece, ouch...

Just had a thought on my deck, since existing joists are 16" oc, if going trex or similar, it really should have 12" oc. Thinking about putting 2x4 sleepers across the joinsts at 12" oc, and running the deck boards the other direction, 12 ft instead of 16 ft long. I have 3" from top of deck to my door bottom, it just means I have to adjust the bottom row of siding a little higher, but I kind of want to take it off anyways and flash the deck header better with zip tape anyways. Just a lot more work.

Good Afternoon Dennis,
That’s an idea but a lot more work ! These 12 footers were $30.96 each, that’s about as rich as I’m planning to go on this job ! 😉 I still have all of the deck under the porch to do after this, but that might wait for the fall !

Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 9:00AM. Overcast with showers. Becoming windy for the afternoon. High 52F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Higher wind gusts possible.
Yesterday's predicted rain held off until evening, but we got a full inch in just an hour. I didn't think to check the back porch for flooding, but it looks OK now. Looks like I'll get plenty more rain to check it today. The two dozen cinder blocks I hauled down from up north are doing a good job of keeping the tarp over the firewood stack in place, but today's threatened 45 MPH gusts will be a real test.

A sawzall with a good blade works as fast as a torch for cutting up tanks in my experience. Also much less chance of a fire or explosion caused by the previous contents.
+1. I really like the Lenox bi-metal blades. They start off sharp and stay that way longer.

The higher than it should be oil level in the Camry bothered me enough that I put the car up on ramps and drained a couple cups to bring the level back down between the dots on the dipstick. Since the dealer also rotated the tires, I retorqued all the lug nuts and every one of them was over torqued. The car came with two years or twenty-five thousand miles of free maintenance, and it will time out on April 1 of this year. I'll never go back to that service department, even if Toyota was to offer free lifetime maintenance.

Installed a keyboard-video-mouse switch so I can use the big monitor in the office with two different laptops. It created a real rat's nest of wires behind the monitor, but it does the job. Then I installed web building tools on the laptop that also runs the weather station software, and that will get no further operating system updates. That will let me update the OS on the main laptop, which has been getting warnings that it will no longer be supported. Talk about being dragged kicking and screaming into the future.

Don't know what I'll get into today, but it's an opportunity rich environment...

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'.

yummy lunch with brother and wife, veal pizziola with calamata olives and lots of garlic.
and extra crunchy fries. hey, it's my birthday...
veal was the real stuff, not some frozen hockey puck
now into jeans and headed outside.

going to make up two small planters with bush beans in them, presents for friends.
I'll have plenty of my own, going big on string beans this year

Good Evening Dennis ,

Dennis, nothing but hard work, if I don’t say so myself ! The Vermont deck is screwed down, it will be a bear ! I have a couple flat bars and a 3ft wrecking/crowbar ! A back belt should help a lot ! 😉
For tearing up decks a sawzall may also work. My back deck in Virginia was originally put in with ring-shank nails. To rip off the deck I cut the nails between the deck board and joist with a sawzall with the best blade I could find. Don't know if it would work as well on deck screws but I was able to repurpose a lot of wood.
