71 and thick fog, going to 92. Yesterday was a cool day in the 70s with low clouds and easterly breezes, not at all the 85 forecasted.

Thomas, good bear story. I checked game cams yesterday and we still have a couple moving around here...seen no cubs, though.

Hiked Dell to the river for a swim but the water was too high and fast...so splashing in the side creek was the best she could do. Helped my wife pull bind weed from the lilacs and forsythia.

Good Morning,
Ct, 62 to start with a high of 81. Light rain falling this morning but lifting later today. Today is the first day of Field Day 2025, which is when Amateur Radio Operators take to the outdoors and and set up their stations and contact as many other operators as they can in a 24 hour period. I will be driving over to our club this morning to help setup but have to return home this afternoon for a concert at the FD this evening.
The Field Day event starts at 2 pm this afternoon. I’m hoping to go back tomorrow morning to operate for a few hours before returning home for an afternoon family function.

Phil, I can smell the bacon from here 😉 Beautiful job as always!

Prayers for your wife Scotty
Buppies, thank you sir, hope your Holly doing better also 🙏

Hope all have a blessed and safe day 🙏

Good morning TBN!!!
68 going to 90+ with chance of Tstorms. They keep saying that but we keep missing rain. Zero in the gauge for the week

Spent the morning working on the NH. I would like to strangle the guy that installed the 4 in 1 on it. Tore half the tractor apart before I found a wire that had a plug disconnected. There are multiple places with terminals that are un-necessary. This one was buried in the frame. Almost found it by accident.
After I put it back together I went and picked some big rocks from the river and from a hillside that I have seen quite a few.
That was it for the day

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

73F and partly cloudy @ 08:30, DP 71F, HU 93%, "feels like" temp 75F. Predicting a high of 84F for the day ... which would be a welcome relief.

Calling for a chance of isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. Currently have a cell off to the west which should get here around 09:00. Might a good test for the "new" (20 year-old) rain gauge ... lol.

Got woken up about an hour ago by a little furry creature who has now been banished to the garage for the time being.

Coffee made and tasting very good.

Agenda for the day unclear at this point, largely dependent on the weather.

Woman has some additional areas She wanted sprayed ... but I need at least a 4 hour window of dry weather for that. Looks like tomorrow might be the better day.

Might still be a few tomato seedlings still in the seed starter tray that could be re-potted.

Water in the sweet potato seed jars needs changed.

Still need to get that okra in the ground.

Front lawn due to be mowed again.

Dole out meds for this coming week.

Beyond that just see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Saturday.

RS, you regularly plant enough veggies to feed half a town.

Not really ... ;)

Did you put away a lot last year when you were done?

Just sauerkraut, peppers, and some summer squash IIRC.

I'm determined to put away some tomatoes this year, not sure
the best way to do it, likely freezing

Don't think we ever froze any back in the day ... unless it was just sauce maybe ?

I think it can be done though.

Water bath canned a lot of whole tomatoes, sauce, and tomato soup though (love the soup with grilled cheese sandwiches) ... along with green and yellow wax beans.

Had shelves and shelves of those ... along with dill and sweet pickles (bread and butter) and relishes (hot and chow-chow)

Used a Vitorio strainer (which we still have) to process the tomatoes for sauce and soups.

Froze beans and corn as well, along with strawberries.

Raindrops about to start falling.

Morning all, 65 going to 87 and cloudy, some rain last night late.
Son had friends over and they stayed in pool till almost 12, but as requested they got quiet after 11 to not annoy any neighbors.
Got some of the bloodwork back, nothing unusual at all, but expected this. Blood sugar down quite a bit, cholesterol up, where it will stay, no more life altering cholesterol drugs for me.
The real tests I need won't be done for a bit, I think things have gotten worse.

Today , off to get more pool salt , with all the rain and purging the pollen etc. it's time for more.

It's cooler so may oil the Acacia table. When I get a picture, I'll share the story.

Buppies, puppies can be rambunctious. Maybe take to a trainer to help this along.

Be well,

The wife found a picture I took of Dad's Triumph.
His brother bought it for him for his 50th, and it's a 1950 model.
I worked on it quite a bit to fix and reroute the wiring, clean up some oil leaks (Lucas electrics and weird seals). It always leaked, but I got it down to only a few. Wiring to keep with original materials was a pain. But fixing the wire harness that ran under the seat was easy, and stopped the "as designed" run from being worn through by the seat movement
Learned a lot about dynamos that I never wanted to know.

There was a band playing outside in the park last night, but storms put an end to that. Some very close lightning strikes, could hear it sizzle.
Have about 1 1/2 hr drive down to the party on the river. We will only stay for half then head home.
Other side of cash register
People were very friendly. I asked to take a picture, she started removing stuff from it, I said that won’t be necessary.
They had an old border collie laying on the floor behind the counter, it liked belly rubs.

had a lot of fun training my new climbing roses on the new wooden fence.
hard to cut off/dispose of parts but that's what all the videos say to do.
pick your three main shoots, which I did, one to go straight up and then over, one to go up and hang a
left on the first horizontal board and one going left almost immediately on lower board.
Will take some time for them to grow in, used twine as they recommend.

just finishing up when I got the call I was dreading.
I guess my 12 year old commitment to my late wife on her death bed
to look after her mother has now been completed.
Grace passed away last night quietly in the nursing home, with her family around her.
It was time, she was more than ready. I think she was 98.

now I have to track down her 102 year old friend in the same nursing home to tell her the news
before she sees it on the memorial board.

not the best part of life but a necessary part for sure.
And lots for family to celebrate when the time comes.
other daughter in town, I'm staying out of it
