Good morning!!!!

Good Morning Everyone, just waiting on the sun to peak it's rays out so I can get started for the day. 75 now going to 87. Yesterday as I was plumbing up the tall posts on the run in, I discovered I designed it to small, so today I will change it from a 12x24 to a 16x24 run in and change the location of the small posts. Have a Dr's appointment this afternoon so that will mean a trip into town.

Even the hurricane out there isn't going to give us any rain, sure could use a little, feel like I am in Texas

Good afternoon. I almost feel guilty to report that, unlike many of you facing repeated downpours, our weather is still settled, with no rain and plenty of sunshine again.

Wow, you have machines to wash dishes ? Well that would have been my reaction up to about 3 years ago. Up until then, we always did them by hand, although my wife said my reject rate crept higher as the years went on. I was very sceptical at first about the claims that machines using less water than hand washing can get the dishes cleaner than I can, but it turned out to be true. It doesn't break as many glasses either, so my hand washing days are over. Ours is Bosch too.

Just been on the phone to check with national farming union advisor how to cover the paperwork to bring in and stack wrapped hay bales from some outside rented ground. This would be no trouble in a normal year, but this has been a good year for grass, so the extra bales will have to be stacked in a field, which, unlike the barns, is not "approved" (i.e. shown on maps) as being used for this. I love farming but hate the often pointless bureaucracy that often goes with it.

59 this morning and headed to 68 today. Almost an inch of rain Tuesday and Tuesday night. Still cloudy.

Not much going on here. Birds arrived Tuesday. Then yesterday I spent the day with a stomach bug. Only to have the wife and boy come home sick with what looks like the same thing. They are home sick today. I'm better today so if I can get away I may go try to do some discing. Need to sow some seed. We'll just see how things go and take it as easy as I can.

David hope your anniversary was a good one congrats.

We've had good luck with our Frigidaire dishwasher. But did look hard at the Bosh. Frigidaire is 7 or 8 years old.

Good Morning! 57F @ 8:00AM. Cloudy. A stray shower or thunderstorm is possible. High 68F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Light showers started early this morning, but only 0.06" of accumulation so far. Barely enough to wet the concrete.

Well Wng, at that price how can you go wrong? Hope you get much more than you paid for, eh?

VTsnow, good thing that the tunnel machine wasn't in there when it started raining!

Eric, that's what happens when people know nothing about the area over which they have jurisdiction. I ran into a similar situation yesterday. I was getting my allergy shots when I noticed a chart containing the dosage levels used to build up to the final maintenance dose. There was a special column there just for Medicare patients, currently those over age 65 with US gummint insurance. The schedule was different than for private payers, so I asked the nurse why. She said that it was mandated by the insurance company, i.e. the US gummint. When I looked at what the numbers meant, the Medicare patients would still get the same amount of drug, but it would be diluted with 50% saline. That meant more fluid in the syringe, which means more work and cost for the medical provider, but more importantly, for me and most people also results in more discomfort.

Before that I stopped in for a blood draw. Much to my relief the snooty gal that was there had been replaced by a nice young woman with a great personality. She was good with the needle, too. As we chatted, she recommended a new-to-me breakfast restaurant, which I tried and found quite good. Lots of easy parking, too, and I was able to find a spot where I could keep an eye on the motorcycle while I dined. And there was free Wifi!

This is the first rain in a long time, so of course the satellite Internet signal went out. It's only supposed to have problems in very heavy rain, so I called to see what might be the trouble. In another know nothing example, the gal on the other end knew not only how to read her script, but to embellish it as well. It's near the end of the billing period and I've used 70% of my data allocation, which she reported with some gusto, as if I'd done something wrong that should be punished. Then she said that the data rate would be restricted until I'd reached 100%, at which point it would be cut off! Those are not the terms of service that were quoted when I signed up, and judging by her demeanor and actions during the rest of the call, I'm pretty sure she's in error. There are only 4 days left in the cycle, and if the data rate is restricted, how am I ever supposed to use up all of the data for which I'm being billed? After a long delay, during which the connection was miraculously reestablished, she returned to the line and asked if there was anything else she could help with. I'd had enough by then and answered with a simple No and hung up. Perhaps after breakfast I'll call someone in the billing department and ask for clarification?

Hope you and your family are feeling better real soon, Farmer!

Screened the latest Mad Max flic last night. Not much in the way of acting or plot, but the chase scenes kept me on the edge of my chair for the whole movie. Well, the whole movie WAS a chase scene!

As I sat here typing this message, a small bobcat wandered across the patio and took a seat overlooking the canyon. It sat there gazing out over the distance, occasionally looking up at a hummingbird buzzing overhead. After five minutes or so the rain picked up a bit, so it stood up, shook it's head a bit, and slowly wandered out of site. I've known bobcats were around by the low growls I hear in the night, but this is the first one I've seen. Hope it's not the last.

Here's hoping for a terrific Thursday everyone!

No measurable rain last night :) quite a contrast from some of the news reports on the mainland.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts. Pretty tame anniversary, opted to stay home. Dinner was leftover meatloaf (excellent) and couple glasses of Spumante.

Hope to get remaining bathroom walls tiled today so I can grout tomorrow.

Be safe
Have a great day.

Texas Hurricane Party - what a great name. :)

The Hurricane Party has been around about as long as hurricanes. Getting together with friends to eat and drink lets folks relax when there isn't a darn thing you can do about the storm bearing down on you.

While not an actual Texan, James McMurty is the son of one of the best of America's best story tellers. Here is his take on a Hurricane Party.

:). Have not heard of Fisher Paykel but will check them out.

Fisher&Paykel are a local NZ whiteware company that grew and grew and expanded into The States. Now manufactures in USA, Mexico and Italy. The Dish Drawer model is 2 single machines mounted one on top of the other. It has been suggested that the reason for the twin design was that those people who for religious reasons have separate dishes for different food types can have a washer for each type.
One problem is that there is no depth under the wash area so the emptying cycle cannot use the weight of water for a pressure device to switch off the pump when empty. Their solution was to use a timer to run the pump.
Usually no problem but if you interrupt the cycle the pump times out with water still inside. Run another cycle and it adds water to the water and the pump may not run long enough. Look for a bailer. (don't ask me how I know:confused:)
The could have fixed the design since then.
F & P have been bought out by Chinese firm Haier and are now marketed as that.

Ours was installed 10 years ago (+/-?). I don't recall it having an issue with the pump you mentioned. Then again, with the two drawers, I can't recall ever stopping one drawer when running. Would not have any reason to. We would just put stuff in the other drawer.

They are still marketed under the F&P name here.
