Only drawback to going with a non HE washer now is I can forget any savings with the dryer as the dryer is only as efficient as the washer. Washer must get the water spun out of the clothes.

I replaced 30 year old Whirlpool washer/dryer 8 years ago with HE front load units from LG and have been very happy with them. I was even able to get a propane conversion kit for the dryer when I moved up here. Though I never tested the washer with sweaty chicken, I sent plenty of dirt caked jeans and work shirts, greasy rags, and poison oak smeared jackets and pants through it and all emerged spotless and smelling fresh. Maybe it's the detergent; I use Tide HE liquid from Costco. Maybe it's hard water? :confused3:

Tomorrow!!!!!

TBN will be represented. My buddy Mike "LstInThot" and his family are coming at least to the wedding.

Wedding at 1pm, karaoke reception 1:45 to 5pm at catering joint, massive bonfire at MossFlower starting about 6pm (also catered).

Gonna be epic, I've got plenty of food and parking spots...

Looks like decent weather for your wedding, David. You two are very brave to give it a third shot, and I wish you all the joy in the world!

Good Morning! 40F @ 7:30 AM. Sunny. High around 55F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Sounds like everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration, and many of you snuck some work in as well. I had the day off, the trips down and back to Sacramento went fine, well except for losing a mirror to a driveway bump on the way out. Otherwise good food, fun company, and even a very nice breakfast yesterday morning. Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the long weekend!

Hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving. Got a sinus infection going, so not doing much here. Maybe if the sun come out, I can take the dogs for a walk.

Good morning all. 36F here in MO, light wind, overcast no rain. Rain has been removed from the forecast for today and tomorrow. Wife has a full day of activities, me not so much :).

43.6F and light rain/drizzle @ 12:00 ...

Finished all the sculpting on the styro of the two backdrop sections and actually started applying the mortar. Checked to make sure that there was room for the heater and filter plumbing, and also that I could remove/replace both pieces with the top plastic trim on the tank.

Got the front side of one section done, took about 2 1/2 cups of mortar and one cup of liquid (water + acrylic fortifier) ... used 1/2 teaspoon of the charcoal color, so if any of the subsequent coats chips off the base layer wouldn't be bright white. Stuff mixes up about like pancake batter, at the dry to liquid ratio that I'm using it.

It took me probably an hour to cover just the front side of the one piece, with all the nooks, crevices, and crannies. The work time before it sets up is about an hour, and it was starting to get stiff by the time I finished.

I think the next one will go a little quicker. Stuck it out in the garage overnight so it would cure a little slower, and wouldn't dry out too quick. Crappy photo (iPhone, low light) but this is more or less what it looks like now:

The mortar definitely adds some weight to it, I'd guess after three coats it will be significant.

Next coat will be a combo of charcoal and brown colorant.
