I know what you mean. One yesterday was a first calf heifer. She didn't like me there but just balled and lunged. She was close enough I could touch her nose, and did a couple of times. All I wanted was an ID tag in the ear. I do have 3 cows I can forget about tagging calves as a new born. They will come over the calf at you. But they are the only ones with Brahma in them. Most of mine will back off 5 feet and ball at me, so I make it fast.

I always hated working with the 1/2 Brahma mixes. They tend to be crazy. We had a heifer we tried to sell because the bull on that herd was her sire. We rebuilt the pen about five times, but she would climb out each time. The one time we got her in the back pen, where the loading shoot was, Daddy fought with her with a long lighter'd rail from an old rail fence. Several times he just got behind the steel gate just as she charged into it. We ended up keeping her until she died of old age. You know how cows will come running when you come in the pasture with hay. She would take off running the other way. Wild as a deer.

Good Afternoon. 1615, rain, 79F with 68% humidity. Our high today was 86F, and the forecast low of 72F with a 40% chance of rain tonight. {I had to erase partly cloudy and type in rain as it just started to pour here about a minute ago. Where I'm sitting at my PC, I can see I need to clean the gutters. Why is it I never think of it when it isn't raining?} Margie and I went to Panama City this morning to do some shopping. Sam's Club, Big Lots, Walmart and 5 Guys Burgers. {and a quick look in a shoe store} We're a couple of Silk Stocking Avenue folks, you think? This afternoon I've slept through most of the Singapore Grand Prix. I foresee an early supper, then heading out to the camp.

You guys have a good one,

Larro

RNG had a Kawasaki shaft drive. The shims on mine were easier to replace just depress the valve enough. The knock on that system was the possibility of shim leaving it appointed position and cause damage on over rev condition. I never had a problem 'cause I didn't ride like that.

Sounds like Kawasaki knew how to design a maintainable valve train, Mostly. The first longitudinal 3 and 4 cylinder BMW K-bikes had those types of shims, too, and they could be removed/replaced by using a special tool (easy to make) to depress the keepers and pull out the shim with a magnet. No pulling the cam, didn't even have to replace the valve cover gasket because they used a thick rubber one that would just last and last. BMW knows how to do it, but they farmed out the engine design on the F and G series bikes. They're fine if you have lots of money and just let the dealer maintain them; my local dealer told me that they are among the most high maintenance and expensive bikes in the entire BMW lineup. And a Kawasaki KLR is a whole lot easier to ride on dirt roads and trails, which is supposedly the target environment for the F/G BMWs.

Good afternoon all. 68F this morning and thunderstorms, leaving .8 in rain on the ground. Clear now, high of 93F (HI 102F). Bike ride went well, finished in 3 1/2 hours, but got overheated at VFD fish fry fundraiser and left early, HI was 100F+ and no wind made it HOT. Have a line on possible truck in STL and stepson was to look at it this weekend, but he hasn't called me back yet :(

Last night Gray2 (our cat) was napping on the ottoman when I went to the kitchen and saw a big wad of skin and fur laying on the floor, I called my wife over to look at it, she leaned down to see it better and lunged at her. She screamed, it hurt my ear. It surprisingly was ___________. Stay tuned for the ending tomorrow morning on the Good Morning thread. Unless you are Eric then it will be in the afternoon.

hint: (It was not a mouse, lizard, bird, snake or spider but our initial thought was a gray cat hairball since it was the size of a golf ball, which is was not, and until it surprisingly moved, we could not figure it out.)
