Good morning!!!!

I remember when my parents got a morning newspaper and an afternoon paper, but never 2 mail deliveries.

Dallas used to have The Dallas Morning News in the morning, and The Dallas Times Herald in the afternoon.

Another cool morning 27°, yesterday was clear and in the mid 60's. Today is going to be in the low 70's and sunny with a little wind. I don't think we have gotten maybe a half inch of rain this hole month. Last year at this time we had about 4 inches of snow on the ground. We might get some rain in the middle of next week.

One of the neighbors got new gun yesterday a 17 HMR Savage. It looks to be a nice little gun. That was the first time I have shot one. It made a nice three shot, quarter inch group at 30 yds.

Not much going on today.

Hope everyone has a good hump day.
CWB.

55°F and rain this morning, going up to 72° today.

See, Newbury has green hair (occasionally). Mine was just stage lighting. :confused3: Figured I'd try something different for awhile. Maybe I need to change my user name to PJSbaroque now.

Drew, I've been referencing Rube Goldberg my entire adult life, and am still perplexed at the number of people, even in my personal circle, who have no idea what that means or who he was. Classic stuff.

Good luck on the Vanagon, RNG. I was wondering, since you did the engine conversion, will you be doing anything significant with the interior, or will that remain a more traditional approach?

I have two Savage rimfire rifles; .22LR and .22WMR. They are not bad little rifles at all. Haven't shot the .17HMR, but everyone I know who owns something in that cartridge absolutely loves them.

31F this morning, early meeting at work. Maine Coon cat was missing since Sunday, came home last night.. Head cold is getting better.

I try to stay out of left lane and drive at speed limit generally. We plan so we have enough time to get where we are going without rushing. It is really annoying when someone has to tailgate when there is another lane available for passing.

good morning all.
jury-rigged...I've always heard it as jerry-rigged and see that both are used, depending on locale.
Billy, you are probably right, but growing up in a family of lawyers, who interestingly rarely saw a jury, all business lawyers, that term
was the one remembered. A Jerry was a gas can, right? So you rigged up an extra gas can for ? sure there are a zillion stories here.

Let's see, there are a few seriously non pc terms that used to be used, usually referring to some third world reality.
And I admit that I grew up hearing some of those words, often in relation to cars. What different ethic or racial types did with their cars.
Some words should die off...

but never Rube Goldberg. Did you know that Rube was a Berkley graduate in Engineering? With a serious sense of humor

I wish I could send some humor Buppies' way, we are all pulling for you. And Ed, hope your day went ok.

off to doc's this morning for flu shot, they still don't have the Shingrix shot available, I'm on the waiting list at local pharmacy.
Speaking of that, Toppop, hope you are healing well. BTW, Randy, did you drive that four wheel oddity you call a Gazelle? Purists would sniff from coast to coast, but there is always a market for something outlandish and fun. I'd like to see a Gazelle park next to a bunch of Morgans in a parking lot in England, all driven by elbow patched tweedies. Talk about culture clash...
Always a good car for a parade. Looks like you have a great car talent to help others with.

74 going up to 86 in fog, I'll be mowing lawn today.

Kit cars are not my thing, Drew, especially Pinto powered ones. But I値l sell ice cubes to Eskimos if there is a dollar in it!:D

Yea! I'm not as old as I thought.
Beaver, on "Leave it to Beaver" was sitting outside his front door waiting for the "second mail". Does anyone remember when the the USPS delivered twice a day?

In the Norfolk, VA area, there were two mail runs a day in the business district in the 1960s.

Already 86 today, tomorrow is going to 68 for a high. Temps all over the place next couple of weeks.
A good bit of rain on the way over the next few days looks like as well.
Everyone have a good day, prayers for all, Buppies gets extra today.

Good day all, Got back from dentist at 10:00, not bad for a 1 hr and 45 min ride each way. Doc got me fixed up so I am good to go again. The first and third mountains were very foggy and one valley was pretty bad to but I left early and just took it easy so no problems.

Bird, don't remember two mail deliveries but dad talked about when every mail box had a lock on it. USPO provided it and the mail carrier had a master key. Our key was made out of a nail and was a master by accident.

Buppies Prayers sent.

Talking about left lane... I watched the people while waiting for the dentist to open. 5 or 6 would turn with no signal and 1 would use them. No offence Bird but the cops need to write more tickets so people will behave.

Have a great day. Ed
