Hello guys...4" of snow on the ground, been bitterly cold. Have to attend a funeral service Saturday...been trying to get the house ready for the live in GF's family, some of her kids are staying here over the weekend. Her father just lost the fight to live...sad to see him decline so fast during the 6 months I knew him. When my time comes, I sincerely hope I go quick, and not endure a long slow slide like he experienced.

Went duck hunting this morning and wow what a day makes, yesterday morning, 60 degrees, this morning 29 degrees. Good for duck hunting.

Generally I don’t age waterfowl too long, because our birds tend to be fat, and duck fat goes rancid fairly fast unless you hang the birds in temperatures under 50 degrees. But at those temperatures, aging takes a long time. I wrote extensively on hanging game here if you want more detail. My general practice is to hang 1-2 days, then pluck or skin. I do know some people who keep ducks — in the feathers and ungutted — in the fridge for a week or more with no ill effects though.

Sorry to hear of the old boy's passing. I think we all would like a quick end, just take a nap and not wake up. I am kinda busy right now, my wife is undergoing cancer theraphy, and her mother just got dianosed with a brain tumor. She is having a operation tommorrow morning. So my wife is just about in pieces. Hopefully everything will get better tommorrow. Merry christmas!!
