Good morning!!!!

It up to 40* here. That is 1* higher than the forecast called for. I got out early and got all the outside faucets dripping, and put out extra cat food in the sheds and pump house. We have a cat door in the pump house, and there is a small gap where the two sheds go together that the cats can get through. If they are smart they will stay out of the weather. I'm going in to work early so my boss can go home. She doesn't do well with cold.

I have them up here in New Hampshire and they have never frozen in over 25 years. The other night it was 12 below and the water was still able to run. Now with all that said it really depends if your facet runs into a heated area.
Mine go into the cellar and are 16” in length (I think) so the shut-off is actually in the cellar.

my outside lines have those little thumb screw drains that let the water drip out between the outside and the shutoff inside. If I drain those each year, no problems.
and regular spigots/hydrants/faucets too, yes running into a heated basement. It's between the walls I'm worried about, not the outside fixture.

"Do any of you know if the freeze proof outside faucets really work"

They have work great for me over the years, just don't have hose connected.

do we know "why" they work?
If there's water in there it's going to freeze. Just a matter of whether it does damage or not.

The shutoff rod and seal extends maybe 18" into the house and the warmth there keeps things from freezing. They work just fine and I have seen them at 25 below with no problems.

Good morning! 23˚ clear skies, tomorrow will be our coldest day.

Texas Temps North to South
Jim - 10˚
FG - 12˚
Txdon - 23˚
Lou - 28˚
Ron - 43˚

It got down to 8 here, before it began getting warmer! Predicted 17 tonight, and then no more below freezing temps for at least a week. Surely things will hang on for another 18-20 hours. I have enough wood to get to then, at least.

Good evening. 2355, clear, 26* with 46% humidity. Forecast low of 22* and high of 35*.

Well the Noles pulled out a hard fought win. I'm glad there were not many games like this one, or my heart couldn't take it. But now FSU are National Champions for the third time. And those flags fly forever.

Congratulation to the Auburn Tigers for a great season. They were by far the best team we played this year. Now I can count the days until speed week down in Daytona.
